I am restoring a 1450 cub cadet.I asked maple hunter decal rep.if the dash panel decal took the place of the tin or went over the tin. They heard of it both ways but told me to talk to a restorer for their thoughts. My dash tin is in pretty good shape except for a drilled hole in dash under throttle lever.Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Put it over the metal dash tin.
After you get it on, take hair drier and lightly heat it up and with a soft rag, press it in the bends and tight spots. It works great!

Mask off the silver parts of the dash tin and repaint the black areas, then cut out the labels from the dash decal and put them on the tin. That's about as close to original as you'll be able to get.

Mike, Matts suggestion is what I personally have done to my 149 dash tin and steering wheel insert, and all of my uncles cubs (127's/149's) have had the decals placed over the tins like Charlie suggested and still have all the texture and raised dividers showing like the NOS tin, so either way you cant lose. Personally I like paint better, its more fun for me and those decals can be tricky...BTDT

thanks for all your input on this subject. I wish someone would make new repro.tins. Has anyone heard of this?
