I'm partial to my 100 I bought from my uncle and the 102 my parents have that I grew up using (I was mistaken thinking it was a 122 I mentioned in previous posts). I have to admit, I really like the 1450 I just got. Sure is easier to maneuver around with that hydro vs the 3 spd on the 100...

My younger brother saw both my cubs and now he's inspired to dig out that 102 and restore it - so he should be joining this forum sometime soon...

Kraig,

Why do you have to ask such a hard question? LOL
I cannot narrow it down to just one, I love them all!
I guess I am partial to the first two series, since they started it all. (the yellow and white disease)
Between these, I cannot decide which I like the best. All three have a special significance or trait that I love.

My favorites:

I didn't ask the question...

Umm...
I don't have a favorite "lawn tractor"
In fact I don't even have a "lawn tractor"
Have quite a few garden tractors though and my favorite is my 126 I restored several years back. :)

I moved it from the IH Cadet Lawn Tractor forum to the IH Cub Cadet Tractor Forum

Mine is a 169 with hydro lift "my 169 is manual"

Then a 1200 with creeper is second

I started in Service with IH in 1973 and the 149 was my favorite tractor as it had the improved steering spindle over narrow frame and hydraulic lift. They were rock solid reliable tractors and the 321 Kohler had a stellite exhaust valve. Main thing to look at on them is the drive shaft coupler on the engine, it is slotted for the drive shaft pin and wears a radial groove, then it takes out the shaft pin. This is true of all Cub Cadet Hydros prior to the Quiet Line (123-169). When the Quiet Line came out, they had some early issues but became better and better through their life cycle. We had one of the last 1250's built to clear the sidewalks at the IH Hinsdale Product Support Center, then my Dad bought it, and a friend of the family still has it 40 years later.

Appreciate the factory frame modifications that allow the 14hp Kohler to fit between the frame rails.

I had an original for 25 years that ran when I sold it but I really like my 129..great running tough tractor, easy to maintain and troubleshoot without all of the fancy (costly) interlocks.

149

This 149 in particular:

We have talked about it on here before. This is Dad's 149 that started it all for me, he had a 105 for a short while before this one. He bought it in 1978 when I was 4 (that's why I don't remember the 105). This is the one I grew up using. Mowing, tilling, pushing snow, being the "ballast" for the 1 bottom plow..... He still has this one, 42 years later. Now, it wears the 42" blade and chains 99.9% of the time, as he had others to mow with (An IH 782, and a 1450). This one has lead to it having 11 friends to keep it company, all IH CC's....... This picture was actually taken at the same time as several others, including this one:

782_149.jpg

Which is the 149 and 782 that I mentioned, and back in the garage is my 1450......
