Hi is there a good site somewhere to look up cub serial and model numbers thanks

Rick, we used to have a FAQ with a bunch of serial number data. We do not have that back online since the forum redo. Is there some specific info you are looking for? Here's a little info that might be helpful.

Just trying to find some information on my 982 international cub cadet red and white it's a cleavland Ohio build so I'm sure it's the transition period to mtd I think it maybe an 85/86

It was built in Brownsville, TN by MTD. MTD took over in 1982, with the last IH built one coming off the line in Louisville in April of 1981.

Yours would have been between 1982 and early 1985. 1985 was the last year for red cub cadets, and just for a few months then.

MTD S/Ns:
1982: 700000-712899
1983: 712900-724524
1984: 724525-737624
1985: 737625-747224

That would be a very late red 982. It would have PTO, 3 point and dual hydraulics, and would have been made near the end of 1985. That has to be one of the last red 982s ever made.

And cleavland Ohio on the tag ?
And it was bought in Canada?

All of the MTD built cubs say "Cleveland, OH" on the tag, because that's where MTD is based out of. The factory the tractor actually came out of, though, was Brownsville, TN, where all Cub Cadet GTs were manufactured up through 2014 or so. AFAIK, all Cub Cadets were made here and then exported.
