It really gives one a great feeling to do something like this. Several years ago, Carolyn and I were in MO visiting her family and celebrating our wedding anniversary, which is in Feb, and had gone to a steak house at Ft. Wood for supper.

After being seated, I noticed a few GI's every now and then coming into the restaurant, some in Class A's with family members. I went to the cashier and asked her to bring me the tab from the next man in Class A uniform to come through w/family in tow.

Turns out, as I expected, he was just graduating basic training and and Mom & Dad were there for him. He was to ship out in several days for his next duty station. WE had a nice conversation with them as we related my Army experience at Ft. Wood, having met Carolyn while stationed there in 1965.

Was indeed, a memorable evening for us.
