Thanks for the info Ken.

I wonder if that (NLA parts) is going to start happening more and more frequently? Eventually the warehouses will run out of the NOS parts, and if MTD doesn't want to manufacture any more parts for the IH made tractors...................where does that leave all of us....

Sure some parts/pieces can be used off of a 'parts tractor', however, sometimes ya' just need a NEW part!

I'm sure MTD would rater sell us all a 'new' Cub Cadet, and the parts/pieces for them, rather than mess with the 'old' tractors......especially the models MTD never even made!

Got the 128 out and made sure my $20 rusty snowblade fits:
31308.jpg

Too bad it won't snow for a while yet.

Also found out that the pivot is really, really stuck. Half a can of PB Blaster later it wiggles back and forth a little. At least someone didn't weld the pivot like I was afraid of.

Frank W. -

Man, I remember when ePay was FLOODED with those things!

Two great McCormicks associated with Chicago - Cyrus (IHC) and his nephew (I think???) Robert (Chicago Tribune).

Ray L -

I think they gloss over that relationship at Cantigny...

I'm looking for some help on an oil pan issue. I found a cast iron pan on an old 14 hp Kohler. this pan looks identical, except for two threaded holes that i'm not sure what they are for. the holes are on the side of the aluminium pan, and are horizontal. there is one on each side offset from the other side. Can I use the cast iron pan??? and what are the two holes for on the aluminium pan???

I was going through some of my Late Mother's things that we had boxed up over two years ago. That is the first time I had seen it. It was in a cloth bag. My grandparents had

Here is my 126 that I rescued from a shed not 100 feet from Galveston Bay (salt water). It had been treated pretty roughly and then shut up to rust away. It looked like it had dropped of a truck a few times.
I just cleaned it up a bit, put a coat of non-regulation paint on it, put on a new muffler, rebuilt the PTO & carb(thanks all for the info), and bought a new battery. It runs pretty well.
Now it is in "retirement" on the Colorado River - the real one in Texas - where it just has to mow an acre every month or so. Then just watch the water, turkeys, deer, and bass go by.

More adventures to follow....

OK here are a couple of pictures for you --

The first is a concept drawn by Bill Syrett who was in IH Industrial Design I believe and was hired away from possibly Wheel Horse. I have not confirmed that though -- the wheel horse connection. He also drew the other gray backed pic yesterday.
31343.jpg

The next is a scan of a print with pencil comments on it. Ths shows how drawings would be put together sent out for consideration, and then redrwan with suggested changtes incorporated. Sometimes wooden mockups were made, and sometimes wooden mockups of small components would be added to metal mockups to show what the change might look like in real size.

Hank, thanks for the photos!!! These are great. I see they thought it looked too much like a Simplicity too! Please keep 'em coming! BTW, any info on how we can get your book signed? I've got one on order.)

Hmmm, one has those "implement mounting" holes in the lower grill like that prototype 70 had.......

Oscar -

Geez, I guess I should be calling you Hank...

Anyway, that second sketch looks like they considered a few Simplicity ideas again - a white steering wheel, the seat and the dead-giveaway fenders...

Hey Kraig --

Thanks for the feedback. I think these images are totally amazing. Somewhere I have one that makes a reference to the holes in the grill and notes that they need to be moved outward to accomodate the blade's lift rod.

On the book signing --- I think the best thing to do is call the toll free # 1-888-707-3939 and tell them that you want a signed copy -- tell them that you want it personalized too if you do. Right now they have a list of personalized requests and then generic requests and I think they plan to have a mess shipped to me so I can sign and then at least the generic autographed copies I will send back to them for processing. I might be able to send the personalized ones on directly. It may be a total logistical cluster ____ but we will figure it out.

Thanks dude.

Hank

Bryan, since I am a 3rd, I got called Hank as a nickname to my middle name which is Henry. I have answered to both Oscar and Hank for as long as I can remember. My sibs all call me Hank and most of my friends do to. In my academic life they liked the more formal Oscar.

I just hooted when I read those pencil comments regarding the white wheel and the seat considering our discussion yesterday. I love the way the stuff they don't like "Looks Bad" with bad underlined. What a stitch eh?
