Charlie, Craig E., a 682/782 with SN:720000 and up had the all aluminum transmission/differential. I could be wrong here but I believe the quickest way to spot theses is that the transmission is painted black instead of red.

Steve B., very nice!

Good Morning,

Because it has been mentioned here I looked in an operating manual for directions about pushing or pulling a tractor without it running. I alos looked on the tractor for anything obivous. Didn't find anything. Is there something I should be doing when I have to push or pull my 1650?

I have been runnnig a 1982 682 for a few years now. Solid machine. It is early enough in the "change over" period to realy not make a difference. The only way to tell mine from a true IH one is by S/N.

It has the series I KT-17 and the hours meter is on its second way around. The only issues I have are that it sat for soo long that I still have to flush out some wierd crap out of the carb every now and again. This is becoming less of a issue the more I use it.

Other than making sure the brake is not engaged, there's nothing to do except gettting your wife to do the pushin!

David K.: What brand and number are those ag's on your tractor? They look like a nice compromise for width between the narrow and ultra-wides.

Tedd & WBill: Are the aluminum tubes on the cast pig a bad idea? Do the all aluminum transaxles develop issues or problems? I'm thinking of setting up another 782 or 682 for tiller work and leaving the other one for mowing and snowthrowing. I'm not married to the idea and if I can find a tractor/tiller setup ready to go, I might do that as well. Just looking for an excuse to buy another cub...
