Steve B,
I often debated with myself weather I would rather have the KT series II or the magnum if I had a choice. I have the series II and added the oil filter. I have put one set of points and 2
condensers in it in 5 yrs. I guess I can live with that. Those magnetos are a PITA to replace.

BTW, does anyone know what gives the Mag 18 one more HP when it is the same bore/stroke as the KT17? I can't imagine the electronic ign is worth
that much HP.

Todd: How expensive is it to add the oil filter package to a series II? I'm sure it would prolong the life of a engine. I've been cutting grass and throwing snow for five years aon the same points and condenser. Maybe between thrower and deck, i should replace them.Kent W.

Bruce, all of us are planning to be at plow day but were not 100% sure yet. The pictures are at Rich & Sherrys garden in virginia. We havent had a chance to use the 169 that was powdercoated yet.It belongs to Tom Henry.

Todd , I thought the pistons were diferent ?? could be wrong though.

Was just over on the Kohler site and near as I can tell the K series manuals are gone. I managed to download the OM a week or so ago but the service manual stalled (I'm on dialup unfortunately). Just went back to try again, found the manuals to the newer stuff, but no K series links, bummer. If anybody can steer me to a different spot, I'd appreciate it, Jim.

Amazing what ya can find when ya click on a Sitemap...

OK, my run of luck with the 782 just got a LOT better!!!!!!

Dad's dealer had the Mag 18 ignition module in stock, so $60 later and one more time pulling the engine out and I was set. Determined not to get my butt kicked again by this thing, I set the engine in the frame and installed one bolt....on the starter wire, with the intention of checking the spark before I went any further. Took a spare new plug, attached a plug wire to it and grounded it to the plug installed in the head......touched the key to check for spark...and it STARTED and RAN before I knew what happened!!!!!!

.....ended up killing it by holding my hand over the carb (remember, I only hooked up one wire???).

Anyway, finished the install, warmed it up, tuned it up, then buttoned it up!!!!

Charlie,
I would too if I could find 'em for the right price.

Oh sure, everyone gives me crap (hope that didn't offend any of the younger or more sensitive viewers!

) for my concrete filled plastic JD wheel weights, but nobody bats an eye at the CI ones...

Can anybody cross reference the steering thrust bearing 605 nice for me? Thank You, Dustin

What's the big deal about the JD weights? I recast at least 600# of IH weights for less than $1 per pound.

Doing a search on this site, I found that Farmall Gray posted this on November 24, 2003,

The # is 4457-00, and GBC is the mfr. So that is another # to interchange if you can't get it by
the nice 605V.<!-/quote-!>
