Gerry I.

Yes the "White" area almost all the way around nipple with no Machining Marks. I Didn't find Any Debris in Rear Case although there was quite a bit of sludge.

Thanks For the Feedback.

Darn Archive bug,,,

Anyway looks Like pieces of the Casting around filter nipple "bung" have FLAKED off, maybe? The voids in casting are not Deep maybe 1/16" at the deepest void,,,

Only concern is void doesn't appear to be 42yrs old, and if small pieces have Flaked off and Filter has done its job then as Gerry Ide suggested I will Spin new Filter on and No Worries!!!

Thanks!

'ing

By chance I happened to click on Gerry Ide's name, and when I saw an Information Technology Manager that made Jeremiah Johnson look like a teenage prep school snot nosed kid, I Did Exactly what Ide Said without ANY Hesitation.

I Cleaned as much Sludge outta Rear case that I could reach with some Clean Shop Rags,

Well said Jason! The very best of the internet, hats off to the crew here at IH Cub Cadet.com!

Cleaned up nice, and now your good to go with that nice 149!

Jason-

I bet that damage is a tool mark from the nipple being installed at the factory. As others have said, nothing to worry about...

Frank C.

Ummmm, "YES"!!!!!!!

Look Here, Believe me Frank!
I Love that Movie,,, and the whole persona of who Jeremiah Johnson is, what he stands for, and what he believes in just as much, if not more than anyone else!

"BUT" when this guy:

305285.jpg

Standing beside that 129 w/ that Blower mounted on front and that trailer hitched in back, full logs bigger than anything on my property fresh cut with that Big Husky Saw, wearing at least 6 weeks of facial hair, sun glasses, and dirty carhartt's from what looks like a weeks work that he has probably done before 9am in one day, Especially when I think of someone retired from IT Mgmt to have a more, um "well" Yuppie Look about Them, Said "Spin a new filter on and forget about it." The first thing that popped into my little insignificant brain is if ANYONE could give oLe Jeremiah Johnson a run for his money, it would be Gerry Ide.

Again, believe me! No pun intended for all the JJ fans out there, But for analogy sake, I am Right, RIGHT???

I entered my 1000 pulling a trailer with my wife and two boys in our town's Memorial Day Parade. The boys are 5 and 7 and had a great time.

I grew up on this Cub Cadet while helping neighbors who had no children maintain their property. They gave me the 1000 years later. I brings back memories every time I use it.

I should have posted this picture a few weeks ago but I was really busy at work and at home. I hope you enjoy it.

Bob E.

What an Awesome Picture. Yes enjoyed very Much. My 2 are grown now, 20 and 22 both in College.

That Pic reminds me of the Small town we lived in when kids were in school. We lived Directly across the street from school. Our "Village" had One red light and Oh how I remember those Parades!!!

Thanks for Sharing!

Hi Adam,

I would check with Charlie- he may have it. If not, you can look at other sites and try and find it. If you can't find it online, you may have to make it.

My turn for a question: A few years back, I asked about a fix for my mule drive that kept sliding out of the quick attach. To fix this, I mounted the mule drive where I wanted it, and drilled a hole in the frame and put a bolt in to hold it. This works well for the deck. Recently, I needed my blade to do some grading work, and the same thing happened with it. Dad tied a piece of wire around the PTO engagement lever to hold the quick attach lever up. Well, I looked on the parts diagram and I am missing those little springs that go in on the sides. With them being NLA, do any of you guys have a fix, or should I try and find the springs???? If I have to find the springs, I won't be able to get them this year, but if there is a work around I would sure like to know. Thanks!

Billy get the springs, put a want ad up in the classified and you will get a some, maybe even for free

I had some things shipped from Illinois where I grew up to Felton, California where I live now. The 1000 and deck rode free. There aren't many Cub Cadets out here so it is really unique for most people to see.

About a year after I got the 1000 pout here I found a 1450 with a #2 tiller, a 44" deck that was pretty beat up and a Brinly box scraper. I picked up the package for about the price of a tiller in the Midwest. The 1450 was a basket case when I got it. It took some time, sweat and plenty of funds to get it back to working condition. I used it to till a garden for my wife this spring.

The boys can't wait to get their hands on these tractors. They already have the fever.

Our town has a population of 6500. The Memorial Day parade is a big deal around here. I love living here because it feels miles from anything but I can be in San Jose in 45 minutes but we still have the small town feel.

Does anyone have a picture of what the underside of a 44a deck should look like. Mine is missing the baffles. Was thinking of making some and wanted to compare what I was thinking of building to what it was like from the factory.
