"Unless Life gets in the way" Boy I Here ya!!!!

Man sounds Like You've put the Hrs in on the Cubs, and Various models as well. I'm Really NEW to all this. Bought House last summer and needed a "RIDER" LoL
So went shopping "On-Line" of course at the box stores and spending $1,000 PLUS on something that I MIGHT get a few years out of just didn't appeal to me. During my research I kept seeing old garden tractors 40+ yrs old still digging, pushing, pulling, and working as intended! So after a little head scratching it was a No-Brainer! Anyway I Like the AG's on your QL's, heck I like the "Look" of ag's on most all the garden tractors. I just basically need mine for mowing so as bad as I want a set on the 149 I might stick w/ the turf savers, ugh!!!!

149 was just a refurb as it has been and will continue to work, did a few Repairs and some Rattle can Paint and other than my trailer accident ALL's good so far!

Thanks 4 the QL pics, Awesome!

Jason.
If you are afraid of tearing up your lawn with ag tires you won't. I fact I found that using ag tires is better, because backing up even a little hill the turf tires spin and make a mess. The ag tires stick and back right up without spinning. Even on wet grass. Just my two cents.

I've herd several time's about tearing grass w/ the ag tires, but now that you mention it, there are a FEW spots in my yard I get the "Wheel Spin" on steep incline. I have to angle it just right at just the right speed w/ these Stupid turf tires!!!! UGH!!!!

Jason you've done more nice painting on your 149 than I have on any of mine. I completely agree on mowing with AGS. I have done some touchy hillsides and they keep you from sliding or spinning. Get some weights too, and a push blade or blower/thrower for winter. I've done fine with pushing snow in northern IL with AGS only, but chains work great in ice conditions, and better on turfs. They get lost in between the lugs on AGS. Sears still offers those weights if you can't find better IH ones, or other cast weights. I assume Ohio gets snow still.....

Earl I am in Mchenry a lot used to live there and father inlaw still does, we fished the dam on sunday. We also have a members in Woodstock and Cary to mention a few. No cub time for me today or for a while, back to a crazy long two week straight work.

23x10.5x12 Carlisle/Titan Tru-Power.........that's what is on Shultie's tractor, and my preference!

You Mentioned the Tru-Power's earlier and looks like that's what everyone is leaning towards here! I Love wider Look vs the Tall & narrow, For "MY" 149 Anyway. The Tru powers seem to have a slight angle change on the rib close to the outer edge of Tire!!! Good Lookin Tires. I'm definitely going w/ the Carlisle TP's
thumbsup.gif

Oh, Also Snow here in SW Ohio has been very Spotty the last 3 or 7 years. I moved to Ohio in 91, from Columbus Ga. Never had to worry about Snow down there, LoL
I remember during the 90's it wasn't nothing to get 6/8/10/ even 12+ inches, Nowadays seems Like 3-4" people go crazy all over the highway! But like you mentioned I also have a Spare set of the 8.5 rims, mine came w/ the parts 1250 I purchased and they have turf tires. So when I get the 23x10.5x12 Carlisle TP's I can use the 1250 turfs w/ chains incase we happen to get a Blizzard down here in SW Ohio.

Jason,

Don't know how I got so many pics in 1 post, guess I just got lucky. Couple of those pics are of my dad's Cubs. Here's another pic just because. Most any Ags work great, some look better and some perform a bit better. Most of mine were bought when the price was right.

Jason,

Before you buy any tires, check out Midwest Super Cub. They have several to choose from, along with rims.

From what I see on the website, Charlie don't have any tires!

Jason--I like all your pics of your 149! You need to start a restoration thread that will house all of your progress in one area. I have about 4 different types of AG's on different tractors but my personal favorites are the Carlisle TP's. I'm running a set of 23x10.50-12's on "The Mule" (my sons 100 plow tractor). They look great and work very well. I've always wanted to get a set of Firestone 23 degree AG's...

Kraig--thanks for the link to posts that are 13 years old! You are like an "Archive Yoda"! I've no idea how you do it but you have a system or memory that enables you to pull this stuff out! Truly amazing. I love that setup...however, I'm thinking that I would like to do something less radical, almost stock looking.

I'd like to use my 149 ported hydro and lift cylinder. I'm trying to decided what to do for a control and lift rod. Ideas? I'll likely fabricate a heavy duty pin holder to the frame like an early optional hydraulic lift outside the frame. Obviously, I'd need to have custom tubes bent up. What do you guys think of the possibility of doing this? What problems could I encounter? Just thinking out loud...

Xtreme Motorworks has tires, stock wheels, and he can make custom wheels as well!

It wasn't until I Took Marty G's advice and looked up midwestsupercub

Before I Put 2 & 2 together! LoL

Bear w/ me fella's, I'm a fast learner!

Anyway I'm Pretty much Decided on the Carlisle Tru Power, I'm Really Liking the lug pattern with angle change towards the outer edge of tire.

306718.jpg

Anyway whenever I'm Treading new waters I try to do at least a little research before Spending Hard EARNED dollars,,,

Just wanted to say Thanks for all the comments, I appreciate it very much!

Oh, Also I still have the Textured Original Grill and Dash Tins. My 149 and parts 1250 Both came without the Steering Wheel Textured emblem, Hydro gave me some advice on "Trying" to Restore The Original Grill emblem,,, Until I get time to tackle that project I decided to just go with the Vinyl Decals.

There was the HEAT Issue w/ Grill "Decal" so I left The Thick Laminate on Back of Decal, trimmed The Laminate to edge of Vinyl & used a High Temp RTV to apply decal w/ laminate backing still attached.

Did same for the steering wheel emblem also!
