Jeremiah and Mike, I posted some pictures back on April 18, 2015 when I first installed the 50" deck on my 106. They show the points of contact.

With pics of "Contact Points"

<font size="+2">"</font> Thought I would put a 50" deck on the 106 this year. My yard is kind of rough so 1st gear is the only gear my old back can take. It has had a 48" on it the last 15 years. I spent last Saturday modifying the mule drive to get the right angles for the belt and have it line up to the clutch pulley. Then I found out the cross shaft that the leveling link goes over is about 1/4-1/2" closer to the front. Ground out a half moon in the center and then it fit fine. Today I put on the deck and here is what I got.<font size="+2">"</font>

Hey I've noticed over time that I find myself "working" my 149 slower and slower and slower.

I think it finally dawned on me today while mowing that the reason is NOT because of bumps on that hard pan without seat cover/cushion, or that I'm trying to do a better job mowing, or even that it just feels good to be outdoors.

I Realized today just how much I Enjoy being on the cub with one hand on steering wheel, one on the Speed Lever feeling the Smooth transition from forward to reverse and back to forward again, hearing and feeling the old cast Kohler Thumping, and watching the clippings fly out from under the 44a.

I now find myself wishing I had acres up acres that needed tending.

Is this some sort of Mental OCD condition I'm experiencing, or is this something other IH Cadet Enthusiasts have experienced as well.

Jason, it's just a symptom of Yellow & White fever.

Don't worry Jason it will get much worse when you get attachments to hang on the front or back.
You need to look for a pair of IH wheel weights for that bad girl.

Jason W. I sure wish that you lived closer. The town has around one and a half acre that I used to love to mow. As I continue to grow younger towards eternity my body just can't take all that bouncing. I'm going to have to soon get a mower on one of the Cub Cadets with the spring seats. I love mowing with the 125 only there is only the seat cushion and that doesn't offer that little extra that the spring seats offer.

Marlin H-

Says Colo is ONLY 8-1/2hr drive, at a steady 149 Hydro top speed of roughly 8mph that's about 73hrs of non stop cub time!
thumbsup.gif
I will definitely need the Seat Cover/Cushion before I Tackle that one, even w/ the Folded Flat Bar 149 seat "Springs".

Jeff

Man that's A-Lot of hydraulics going on there! I've seen many of the Loader and back hoe attachment set-ups on old IH Cubs on-Line and I've Always wondered if an "Extra" hydraulic Reservoir tank is required for additional fluid for all those Long stroke Rams? And if the Cud Hydro pump is actually handling all the work?

I have thought how Awesome it would be to set-up a dual hydro on the 149 w/ bulkhead coupler's in the Front of Frame for Log Splitting. Seems pretty straight forward except wondering about a Larger Ram with much longer Stroke how the Fluid in Rear would equal out or be enough to supply a much larger hydraulic cylinder, and if/or an additional reservoir would be necessary?

That looks like a Sweet set up Jeff!

Matt G -

I Think Possibly some of the Later model IH cadet came factory with the dual hydro and couplers in frame, Is this Correct? Also would a Log Splitter be a Possibility with that type of setup, wondering if Cylinder size and stroke would Be limited using only tractor pump and rear end as reservoir?

Any thoughts on this? Thanks.

LoL

Yeah that Decked boat trailer full of wood was just way to much for lil cub, flat grade no problem but all that weight on steep hill cub didn't stand a chance. Good thing no one hurt on that last episode! What was I thinking

Anyway gonna haul one more load today then call it quits & get cleaned up,

The charge pump on the hydro unit is too small for a logsplitter, loader, or any similar-sized hydraulic system. For those things you need a dedicated pump and reservoir. The front outlets are intended for changing the angle of the front blade, which uses a very small cylinder.

Another 149 (this one I'm calling "Sandy").

Now that Paul B. sold his at a drastically reduced price ( and I hope someone here got it) it was my turn to spend Don T.'s celebration of life day on this side of the border in the CubHouse. Don bought the first 149 that I'd worked on and he put a lot more into it. My second one stayed about 45 miles from here and they're still loving (and modifying) it. This one came from a junkyard 30 miles away for $175 and needed (and still needs) a lot. It's been here almost 3 years and this is as far as I've gotten. It's a fogger, not a smoker.

Frank-

Is that an IH #1 trailer I see in the background of the first pic?

That 149 looks to be coming along but it needs some "clothes" on up there in Maine...even in the summer. Do you plan on mowing topless? (talkin' about the tractor here)

Took some pics of the stuff we brought to the local town festival

Nate B. Impressive collection. Thank You for sharing the pictures.

Jason W. I mowed Saturday until company arrived. Now I have a little section that needs finished. It will be a busy week though. Broke a pto to deck belt on the 125 and thank goodness had a used spare. I was lucky.... normally don't have any spare belts.
