I bought a 782 with a bad kt17,it was sitting outside, I installed a kt17 series 2 have it running, noticed oil in hydro was milky so changed it also, have on jack stands with wheels off and you can turn the hubs by hand ,when running and put in forward they do turn but you can stop them.I installed cat0 3point 3 point and the hydraulic pump work fine.

That's just the differential working. I doubt you can stop both sides at the same time.

If you can then there is a problem. First thing to check would be the relief valves. Can you stop the wheels in reverse? If not, swap the 2 valves and see if forward works. If it does then the valve is bad ( I don't remember which one is forward and which is reverse) . If this isn't the problem then there could be something wrong with the charge pump.

Also double check the driveline. I have had spiral pins break but stay in place. When put the hydro under a load the shafts slips. An easy check is to Watch the pump shaft that comes out the rear of the pump. It should spin with the even when you stop the tires.

You might also want to check the charge relief valve to make sure it isn’t stuck partially open. It is located on the side of the pump. The below link has a good diagram. 1811 Hydro Problems...

Good Luck!

Probably nothing as long as it wasn't to fast or to far. It would probably be a good idea to put the wheels on and set it on the ground to see how the drive works instead of holding on to the hubs.

So I took the top cover off rear end both axle shafts turn but the carrier doesnt,is there a roll pin or something there?

With the wheels off the ground that's whats gonna happen. You have to grab both axles and turn them both in the same direction at the same time or at least hold one from turning to get the carrier to turn. Put the wheels on, put it on the ground and try it. I bet it works fine.

X2

So I first thought it was hydro problem, now I think rear differential problem, took top cover off and everything looks to be working right except the ring gear turns and the wheels go nowhere.

Are the spyder gears inside the carrier?
If so, do they turn when you turn the wheels?
A picture of the carrier could be very helpful.

Ring gear turns and spider gears turn but not axles

You can turn 1 axle and the other goes the other direction so I would think they are ok

Clean the gunk out with lots of clean rags.
Put the cover on with a new gasket. NO SEALANT!!!!!
Put on a new filter.
Fill with HyTran
Put the wheels on and DRIVE IT!!!!!

Nothing wrong with using permatex or similar gasket sealer (NOT RTV) in addition to the gasket.

Oh, and you may as well replace the axle seals while you are in there.

The NO SEALANT suggestion was to enable removal of the cover after a few weeks of running to change the oil again.
I can hardly wait for the explanation of how to change the axle seals. :popcorn1:

My point from the beginning was with the wheels on you shouldn't be able to jack up the rear and rotate the wheels on a hydro,on this one they do,and under power with all the gears turning the wheels don't turn?
