Starting a project to restore a 1962 original (SN 29346) that belonged to my wife's Grandfather. He worked for IH at the Memphis, TN plant. I feel a bit overwhelmed with the project; I'm mechanically inclined but probably won't be rebuilding any engines or transmissions soon. I've done alot of research and am pretty stoked about all the resources and parts available, so I think I can make it happen. I can't wait to see it finished and let my boys (5,8,& 11) know that they will someday own their Great-Grandfather's Cub! I need to get some good tires on this thing so I can move it around better ... any good ideas out there? Can you still get the Carlisle Turf Saver 6x12 like the original? Or should I go with the Ag Lug tread and 3-rib front tires?

Andrew there is a pair rear tires for you in the for sale section. You could use those and 3 rib in front which would improve steering.
The forum sponsors at the top of the page will supply anything you might need. There is a wealth of information on this website second to none. Take lots of pictures as you go. Lable parts so you don"t forget where they go. Give those boys some wrenches and sandpaper and enjoy them and the tractor. When finished i bet you will be looking for another cub cadet.

Yep, Three boys = three cubs (and maybe a fourth for Pop). Having one each will keep the fighting to a minimum. Then Mom will have to have a hydro.

Welcome to the world of cub cadets...and I'm sure you'll have a great time and I know the boys will. The sponsors at the top of each page will help you tremendously with most everything you'll need.

Andrew, WELCOME!
