Replacing head gaskets and valves in my CH18S and notice that the parts lists indicate a type A and type B head. How can I tell which type I have?

Which part # is correct for a fully assembled heads with valves, springs, etc already installed?

KH-24-841-01-S should be the correct head gasket kit for all of the "small block" Command V-twins such as the CH18/20.

The parts diagrams in Cub Cadet's parts lookup tool do not indicate any "Type A" or "Type B" differentiation for the heads. There are two different styles of piston, but this has nothing to do with the head gaskets or valves.

Yes, that's the gasket set, I'm curious about a complete head assembly with all components present. OPE Engines offers a complete head assembly #24318202S, but there's no listing for a #2 head.

But that same part number is for only a bare head at Jack's.

mgonitzke,
Thanks for direction to the Cub Cadet parts lookup site. Another point of interest is that I don't have a KH-24-755-66 guide plate in either one of the heads.

In the CC parts lookup, that number takes you to the valvetrain kit with new pushrods and rocker arms.

Yeah, seems like all the other sites do the same. I've never seen the guide plate itself listed.

It seems like a couple parts vendors were selling entire head assemblies with valves, springs, seals as an complete unit, but I've not seen an actual Kohler number that would get you one of those. Fortunately all I need is to have the valves ground, seats cut and all associated gaskets and seals. Heads still nice and flat.
