    582 Transmission Disassembly?

Thanks for the help everybody. Transmission is apart, well GRD is loose from tranny. Took parts to my buddies' shop and used sand blaster and a few of their fancy tools. Took a while to get the ball out of the plunger #5 out of #3. Need to order a new o-ring for plunger (that's what I call...

    582 Transmission Disassembly?

those are some excellent pictures. good news is the problem is the wet brakes were stuck engaged. Seems like there is enough pads left, new ones may not be necessary. I took a chisel and a hammer to create some space between pad and disc that spins and everything freed up. Now I am trying to...

    582 Transmission Disassembly?

Ok guys. I'm working on my 582 with a 12hp stuck in it. I had it out driving around and parked it. Next time I go to move it, it won't start. Then it needs moved and I have to jack up the rearend to drag it around. I have pushed many around and usually they are hydros but seems to me that...

Got lucky this morning. The moon was straight above me (moon time for hunting was 6:25)

Canned deer meat is only way to go. Tastes like roast beef. We are still old school around here, no pressure canners, but it takes way less time.

    The saga continues....

Frozen spindle may be bent, had to get new one for my 122. Someone had also ripped dash tower trying to force it. Dont do that, they are pricey and a pain to weld back together.

    582 stuck clutch

maybe I'll but snow blade on it and call it done. Are where the QA locks in the same on a wide frame as a spread frame?

    582 stuck clutch

ok two different part numbers, I'm guessing go with 1282? Just ran into all sorts of problems on another tractor with different spacers that went behind PTO. This tractor doesn't have anything relating to PTO on it, so nothing to guess by. Don't know which part number was for which tractor...

    582 stuck clutch

Just sent payment for 1280 stickers. Another question, Do I order pto for a 582? Maybe a 1282? I'm getting ready to see if they are same part number. Damn they are expensive. I put a pto on it I'll probably keep it, my first 82 series. Original plan was to try and trade it for 122 in my...

My first Cub Cadet is home!

My uncle has a 682 i think with push blade on front and scraper blade on the back. Dont know what deal is with blade on front but know blade on back is all manual. CC blade on front, dont know who made rear blade, pretty sure it is homemade setup. When blade on back is lifted up, the arm used...

    582 stuck clutch

Well, I was going to order decals and put 1282 stickers on it, but apparently 1282s have hydrostats. This 582 now is a 12 hp kohler powered machine with a manual trans, what do I call it. I was good with evens being manuals but I guess the 82 series threw that to the wind. Just keep it a 582...

    582 stuck clutch

Well everybody has limited space, 50 cub cadets take up rm and this had a B&S engine so it doesnt get preferred treatment such as the diesels or super garden tractors.

    582 stuck clutch

I did and have suggested to everybody i know with a wet brake rearend to do the same. Not convinced that is way to go on a tractor with disc brakes?

    582 stuck clutch

Ok its freed up. Sprayed wih penefree and drove around with clutch pedal depressed. After examining i think rear plate was froze to friction disc. Nobody warned me about it resticking, lol. Had to make another lap slipping clutch more than normal. Seemed ok when i parked it.
