Mating Driveshaft to none standard engine

Was going to get the original drive fitting for the flywheel repaired for my 149, shop machined a new one-piece, which I then used to move the flex-joint to the engine end of the driveshaft, and put a u-joint at the back, as shown by others on the forum. Works great, NO rattle or extra vibration.

    Greetings from Canada

Welcome from Manitoba. I'm a wee bit jealous of TWO loaders - though I couldn't dedicate my 149 to one attachment. I've got a 50" deck, tiller (rebuilt), 42" thrower with a mount kluged together by previous owner to convert from narrow frame, and a very good condition parts thrower, no mount...

129 low power at full throttle

Matt's timing method . . . just plain works. I use the "buzz" continuity feature on my multimeter, making it slightly easier. I don't even look at points gap . . . when the timing is on, it will start and run the best. Watched one of those guys on YT recently who was trying to get something...

Just let 'em fly! Going too fast, just lean right to unload the drive wheel and let it spin; more modulation than the centrifugal clutch!

    Monkeying around in Shultzie's garage

Chains vs Ag treads depends on ground conditions. When it's really icy under fresh snow, I need the actual "bite" of chains, otherwise I keep getting stuck, and have to either abuse my body to bounce my 149 out, or use the truck to pull it out.

    CC 125 pto clutch removal

My choice for removal of bearings in bad spots has been carbide burrs in the die grinder. Cuts bearing steel, but clean up the micro-splinters with a magnet. Those little buggers are crazy sharp and almost invisible. Mail order available from many sources, for the burrs. As abthomas said above...

Do I have a leaky head gasket?

I'm agreeing with HKCooper. A head rarely cracks near the gasket. I had a cracked head - blowing gas out a very visible crack an inch away from the spark plug. I got lucky, my neighbour GAVE me a parts engine to steal the head from. I also sanded the replacement head before installing it, and...

    106 vs 127 vs 147 Newbie Questions

There is a definite technique to getting the clip on. It will go on fairly easily IF you're doing it right. Wish I could describe it, but only remember struggling with it until I figured it out.

Kohler Mag 20 dumping fuel again

Aviation gas contains lead, and more than auto gas used to. Expect to replace plugs more often, lead fouling is going to happen, unfortunately.

    K301 rebuild

I used a recommended retired machinist and ordered what he told me from Charlie for my 149. Not sorry!

    All Things Deer

Brother and I were going down the highway one night on my bike, him driving. All of a sudden, I thought he'd kicked me. He came to a stop a couple of hundred yards further and asked me "did you see the bear?" Cub came out of the woods and T-boned us. What I felt was his head . . . Dad came...

New mower is a piece of junk so far!

As Curt said, add SOME ballast to the seat. Get creative as to how, so it doesn't affect YOUR operating the machine. Use only enough to work for YOU. That way, safety is still functional, for you, and won't bypass the protection. I like Greg's "old school" comment - safety features are nice...

If you HADN'T had the head off, I'd say to check that the piston didn't move, because looking through the spark plug hole has fooled more than one of us. The plug is not over the piston. You can only see part of the block, or the exhaust valve through the spark plug hole. Ask me how I know ...

    It' Alive!!

Yupp. The only dummy is the one who refuses to learn from others' mistakes. We've all had our turn making mistakes, learning the hard way. Eventually, we learn how to be smarter. This forum has definitely helped me.
