Things that Kill my Cub time.

Hi all, I'm good and enjoying retired life. I do check in from time to time without logging in just to see what's up. A lot of newer folks I don't recognize and I don't know if I have much to contribute. The 149 is largely idle in the garage since I left the 2+ acre house in NY and moved to a...

Dodged a bullet with the storm here. About 2" on the grass and a crusty slush on the driveway and walk this morning. Snow on the grass has remained but the rest has been rained away. Hoping everyone else made out ok. Brian

Also, as to the question of whether the skid wheels worked or not... in my situation the answer was yes in my first house with a nearly level drive. They also made the thrower easier to manage off of the tractor. I would just lift by the QA mount and push like a wheel barrow to what ever spot...

Kraig- No. That was just a gag I made up for the pic to see if anyone was reading. Brian

Gerry - Thank you! That was taken immediately after the final details were done and it was light enough to bring it outside for the first time. This was 2 houses ago. I had posted process pics here along the way. Here is a before pic. I did change out the original seat before...

Kraig - Funny about those pictures. I remember this particular shot in the higher priority pics that would be displayed in a Google image search of 'Cub Cadet 149' for almost 5 years (not so much in the past few years). But there was an incident where it was being advertised for sale on a...

    Just returned

Greetings.. I am back in the forum after a long hiatus. Last time was about 2004 I think. I already posted in the main forum and just saw this section. So far so good. Brian

Greetings.. I am back in the forum after a long hiatus. Some here may remember me. A lot of changes since I was here last. Moved from NY to Wisconsin, downsized, and retired. Much smaller property than the last place and no front yard to speak of for the 149 so I am getting it done in about...

Dale- In my case the first plate snugs up flush against the mounting bolt heads. Subsequent plates are put on and when the locking nut is tightened, the wheel and weights are a very solid union. No movement or flex. Charlie - Nice! I probably should have asked you first . The two rods I...

Jim, It seemed like one hurdle after another on this, trying to find the 1" threaded rod, trying to find someone around here willing to drill a 1" hole through the 1/4" stock and weld a nut on for me (I criss cross two pieces inside each wheel btw). I happened to find the 1" rod a t a...

Dale - Yeah I had some fun. What I couldn't throw I just pushed with the thrower. As long as it leaves the driveway I'm not particular. Wheel weights - Terry Busch seem to have a similar system on his 147 pictured further down the thread. I cobbled these together when I found out that I...

FINALLY got some weights on the 149! 110lbs/ wheel and was able to move around on my fairly steep drive with no chains and no troubles. Got about 5-6" of heavy wet stuff last night. I might be looking into the popular thrower pulley mod I have been seeing here lately. Brian

David G. I painted my 149 fiberglass dash with CC paint (rattle can) and it worked just fine. It's been about four or five years now and it still looks great. Brian

Well Kraig, It was about a month or so ago you asked me if the 149 ever gets any use (it looked good in the picture I posted but closer inspection would reveal some normal wear). I had an occasion a week ago for some ABNORMAL wear and tear and a lesson learned. I was mowing the front yard...
