Do you guys see any advantage/ disadvantage to having an aluminum oil pan on a 149? The balance gears were removed so it vibrates. Is there more/ less danger for cracking? Thanks.

Norm, that is where your float lockout pin goes. It locks the linkages and allows for downpressure, using a snowplow etc...

ok, now the whole story. I decided not to use ramps and go with the tilt feature (like you do with a snow mobile). Well, I got it all the way up, then I tried to shift my weight forward to tilt it down, and there she went! right off the front. No damage. It landed on the lower grille frame...

Don T. Also, the head on the right looks like it's been milled down quite a bit. You better check and make sure it still has enough meat on it.

Rich, I had a simlar problem with a 1650. I ended up rewiring the entire tractor. There was a short somewhere, either corrosion, or incorrect wiring. New ignition switch too.

Had fun with my father in laws 1650 project. Finally delivered the finished product today. Fun project. I'll have to get one of those someday. I like the starter compared to the 149. I had to replace the head, starter, tires, wiring, breather, etc... He got himself a nice machine out of...

Marlin, It was the valves. I swapped them with the ones in my 149. Worked perfect. So I will clean them well and hope they work when done. Thanks for the advice.

The 1650 has roared to life! Turned out to be funked up wiring from the PO. Thanks PO!!!! It has forward but no reverse. Is this a bad valve on the hydro pump?

Allen, the engine cranks fine. The points open and close and are gapped. I changed all the wires, checked for continuity. I metered the - side of coil while cranking and the meter went haywire, registering all voltages between 0 and 12. I cleaned the terminals on the rectifier and checked...

Hey guys. Having trouble getting my 1650 to spark. I changed the coil, the condenser, the points, jumpered all the wires, check for 12V at the coil, all grounds are good. I think I covered everything. What else??? Does the regulator and/or stator have anything to do with this? Thanks for...

I bought a 1650 for my father in law. First, the head was cracked. That's an easy fix. Second, the starter is bad. How do you test the starter? I am sure the solenoid works. I jumped it with cables while mounted on the engine and got nothing. I pulled it out and jumped it with cables and...
