Does my 42" mower deck need a tensioner pulley?

That spring probably isn't going to be stiff enough. The OEM torsion spring is pretty stiff. You also may find that blue belt stretches an inch or more. I have not had good luck with those.

Parts Wanted For CC 104 and 3 blade, 42" mower deck.

Light panel has the IH logo- it looks the same with a GE4411 sealed beam lamp on either side of the IH logo. Looks a lot better than cobbling lights onto it somewhere else. First link is for a later tractor that uses 5/8" belts. That will not work. Second link is for a 44" or 50" deck. That...

Parts Wanted For CC 104 and 3 blade, 42" mower deck.

Assuming this is for the 104 you posted about in another thread, there is no 'speed-up' pulley available for that particular deck, and why not the OEM light panel that bolts in place of the blank plate in the grille?

782 engine swap, wiring sanity check

Yes, take the engine out attached to the plate.

    Motor oil

I'll say it again...non-detergent oil is not appropriate for use in any Cub Cadet engine.

    Trans oil change

3000 series does NOT use HyTran...it uses the Cub Cadet branded "Drive System Plus", or alternatively one of the engine oils mentioned in the hydro unit manual. I am 95% sure the 3000 series have a Hydro-Gear BDU-21 hydro unit, for which the manual is here...

CC 147 Kohler K321 Head Gasket replacement

Plastic scraper will work good for the piston. You can use a wire wheel on the valves if you are careful not to hit the piston. Might as well take the valves out and clean/relap them while you are in there.

    Paint problems

Any farm store rattle can you buy that is "Cub Cadet Yellow" is most likely the orange-yellow used on the cyclops and 2000/3000 series tractors, which is not the correct shade of yellow for the older machines. To get that color, you must get iron guard from Case IH, or have auto paint mixed to...

    Used Engine Swap

If it is from a Cub Cadet it will drop right in. Carb is specific to engine size, not year.

    Paint problems

Clear coat not compatible with the paint or you applied it the wrong amount of time after spraying the paint.

    IH Cub Cadet 70

You will be very disappointed if you don't. That is not usable in that condition.

Not yet. Planning on it someday if I can find one of those decks near me.

50" will never work as well as the 54". All you need is a 6" PTO clutch to put it on your 1872. The mule drive and carriage will work as is. Alternatively, you might be able to put the drive pulley from your 50c on the 54".

Mating Driveshaft to none standard engine

The 582 Special and 580 had an engine like that and would interface to the driveshaft in the same way as the 782. It may simply work by removing the pull start assembly and changing the flywheel screen. If you are able to get the info off the data tag riveted to the flywheel shroud, we can...

1450 barely backup up after Neutral Adjust.

If the pic indicates where neutral was before doing the operational neutral adjust, then that is part of most of the problem. The length of the linkage rod from the hydro lever to cam plate must be such that the lever returns to neutral on the dash when the brake is depressed. After this is...
