I found Scott's number on the net and gave him a call. He said he is no longer doing cam regrinds. I looked at Tim's site and didn't see a cam profile that I think met my stock 16's needs. I'm going to give them a call and see what they offer. Vogel has a cam for it but its 179.00 dollars...

Does anyone know if Scott Madson is still able to have cams ground and how to get intouch with him. I had one of the cams in a puller years ago and liked it. Now I'm looking at getting back into pulling again and would like to get another cam done. Ken

Dave I have another question about boring the rod for the bearing insert. How do you hold the rod in your mill?

Calvin What do you want for the Brinly hitch on the right in the picture and would you be willing to ship it?

Great Thanks Dave. Thats what I was looking for. I did some pulling in the early 2000's then got into lawnmower racing until 2010 when I started having problems with my back and had to give it up. Now I'm ready to get back into a competitive sport and I'd like to biuld a stock 16 puller. I...

Does anyone know what size endmill is needed to bore a Kohler K-series rod to use the bearing insert? I have a Bridgeport mill and some larger endmills but can't seem to find any info on what size the endmill needs to be. Ken

    Pulley size for a 551 on a 1811

Ron Found a local hardware store that had a 7in pulley for 8 dollars. I bought it and cut the hub out of my 9in 551 pulley on the lathe. Machined the 7in pulley to fit the hub and welded it on. I put it on tonight with a 4in shorter belt and it works fine. The belt looks like it lines up...

    Pulley size for a 551 on a 1811

From what Ron has said in this post, you need to change to a larger pulley PTO clutch because you should have a 7in pulley on the blower and your gear box is the slower of the three blowers we talked about.

    Adding hydraulic lift to 1810

Thanks for the help. The lift works great. Ken

    Adding hydraulic lift to 1810

Has anyone attempted this. A friend of mine has all the parts from a 782 and would like to add it to his 1810. Ken

    Pulley size for a 551 on a 1811

I thought it might be hard to steer also but its not bad. With snow on the ground. I won't notice it. But its nothing like your 82's with powersteering I'm sure. Thanks again

    Pulley size for a 551 on a 1811

Bummer The 551 I have has multiple splines not just a keyway. I'll be cuting the pulley. Don't worry about checking the other blower. Thanks again Ron you have been a big help.

    Pulley size for a 551 on a 1811

Ron Just had a thought that might answer the pulley interchange issue. Since it looks like you have parts manuals. Is the gearbox shaft part number for the pulley the same between the 551 and 450?

    Pulley size for a 551 on a 1811

That explains why my 551 has the bigger pulley to slow the blower down with the larger PTO pulley. Thanks again for the info. I feel much better about cutting the pulley I have now.

    Pulley size for a 551 on a 1811

Yes Point well taken. I realized what you meant today and looked at the belt alignment with the smaller PTO pulley and it doesn't look to bad. I also looked at what would happen with the smaller blower pulley and that looks good also. The idler pulleys are rather wide. I've had it running...

    Pulley size for a 551 on a 1811

Thanks Ron. The pulley size won't be a problem for alignment because I'll just buy a shorter belt. The thing that has me wondering is why my 551 has a 9in puley and yours has a 7.25in pulley. Does your 1782 have the small pulley on the clutch? I also will call the Cub Cadet dealer today and...

    Pulley size for a 551 on a 1811

I did but they didn't know and the parts diagrams did not show or give enough info on the 450 pulley to know if it would work on my 551. All it said was that the 450 pulley had a 7in diameter pulley. I seen a picture of one on ebay lastnight and it had a smaller pulley than my 551.

    Pulley size for a 551 on a 1811

I stopped at a cub cadet dealer on the way home and looked up the pulleys to compare the sizes. The 450 uses a 7in pulley and my 551 has a 9in pulley. The 7in pulley would spin the blower faster. But I don't know if the 450 pulley will work on the 551. Does anyone know if they will. I like...

    Pulley size for a 551 on a 1811

What if I got the pulley for the blower from a 450. That should run the blower at the correct speed. I have it mounted and it fits fine. I need to make a bracket for the lift arm but thats no problem. Ken

    Pulley size for a 551 on a 1811

I'm mounting a 551 two stage blower on my 1811 and was wondering if the pulley sizes on the blower and the tractor's PTO are correct? Ken
