    Battery for 149

    On my 149 I ran a ground cable from the battery to the engine. Much better than using the frame as the main ground.

    Will it Fit?

    Looks like the right hand pulley cover is missing. And no drive belt. Otherwise it appears that everything is there. I can't see the pulley on the mule drive, but if they are there it may need a tension spring on the side opposite the tension adjuster.

    There may be a bushing on one side that you have to remove to get the arm to tilt enough to get it out when you slide it all the way to one side.

    My 128 had a similar problem, the lift arm rod in the tube would spin so it wasn't line up with the detent stops.

    Are you sure you had the new voltage regulator connected properly? Many have ruined a new regulator by improper wiring, myself included.

    Steve Bluiner wrote a FAQ about setting up and leveling the deck. It had instructions about heating and bending the under carriage to get proper lift.

    Original no spark issue

    How good is the battery, do you have at least 10 volts at the coil when cranking? Try a different plug wire and plug. Points gap set correctly? Points clean ? Run a file or a piece of fine emery paper thru the contacts.

    Low compression on K321 engine

    Violet wire would be for lights. It was built into the harness even tho the tractor didn't have lights. 147 tractors usually had lights on them, but maybe Vermeer specked them without?
