How do I install a three point lift bar on the cylinder on a 782?

I have mentioned this before, and I was told to drive out the pin from the cylinder and replace it with a slightly longer pin. I don’t see how to get the pin out, and don’t know where to find the longer pin, or how much longer to use. I don’t see anything in the manual section or on the parts...

Woodworking advice for period-correct shelves in antique walnut hutch

I had to buy a hutch from my family's estate, and I want to add shelves. It came with no shelves, and an unfinished interior. What do you guys think I should use to make shelves? I am leaning toward three 1/2-5/8" thick shelves of walnut if I can convince a sawmill guy to make them for a...

Parts Wanted Hotel room available for Red Power, OH June 23, and 24

Crazy thought, but I booked a room for Red Power, Oh Thursday and Friday nights. Now I don't plan to attend. 2 Queen beds. Rooms at this Holiday Inn Express 5 miles from the fairground are now going for $180 and up per night. I am thinking the rooms are worth more like $100/night. Does...

    Snow blade foot adjuster

My tired, rusty old snow blade that cleared the neighborhood the last storm has lost the threads inside of one adjuster. Should I just grind that one off, and weld a nut on? As a temporary fix, I just threaded an extra nut onto the shoe, and sandwiched the adjuster with one nut above, and the...

    My inheritance

I had to go make an emergency clean out run at the house I grew up in this afternoon. I didn’t get a lot, but these were high on my list. Dad has been gone some years now, but his wife is now ailing, and it’s doubtful she will ever get out of assisted care, and her daughter is planning an...

Where in North America is Jim, and what Cub Cadet items has he found there?

Hello all, I travel just about every week servicing printing presses. My territory is North America...US, Canada, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Jamaica, etc., and thought it might be fun and possibly informative to report on what I see IH, Cub Cadet, or maybe just interesting in my travels. I am...

    Parts Wanted Looking for a S/G for a 149

#3 son reported that the 149 he has been using to move firewood may need a new starter motor. I doubted that, but he brought it home, and it failed all the FAQ tests, and never budged. It was left out in the rain, possibly with a plug missing from the S/G case, and may have been jumped...

Looking for some guidance on a (782 based) Cub Cadet Post Hole Digger

I would like to rework the fence around our pool, and am trying to get my 782 involved for a couple of reasons: 1) anything that makes my bride’s pool life more enjoyable has value to her, and 2) I do not want to dig the post holes. Searching this forum (for post hole digger) brings up one rear...

Parts For Sale NOS K321A for sale set up for S/G tractor, but...?

I have decided to let my find of the year go. The reality is that I drive a 782, and the 14 does not fit into my plans except to fund my dirt moving urge. Steve, and John have given me the itch to move forward with some ground-engaging equipment. The sale of this engine should help a great...

I scored a nice IH lapel pin at auction. Any ideas how these were acquired originally?

As the title says, I won a gold IH lapel pin with a blue stone in the dot over the I. Does anyone here know how or why these were awarded? Could they have been for executives, or for years of service, or? I don’t wear lapels very often, so it is now a hat pin in a hat that needs replacing.

New IH man key chain is sticky

I just picked up a couple of IH key chains, like CCS used to sell. When I unwrapped them from their plastic, they were sticky. I rinsed them off with water, but they are still sticky after a couple of weeks. In the label industry, we sometimes get what we call “plasticization” when a plastic...

Look what followed me home: a K321A replacement engine...NOS?

I think I had a good morning. I have been in cryptic discussions about this with a few of you, but I can let the cat out of the bag now.

What's the "Greatest Life Hack" you ever saw?

My father used to call impressive things: "the greatest thing since sliced bread". Please list some of the things that have really impressed you? Think things like sliced bread, a tennis ball hanging from a garage ceiling to indicate a parking spot, or swimming pool noodles on garage walls for...

149 tractor. Cousin of Sad 782.

One grew to two today. The herd is growing. I picked up a 149 with mower deck and dozer blade. This will be a work tractor for a son and his buddy. Mine, but not. It needs a few things. It comes with a few rare options too. It has the coveted seat track, and the lever locking speed...
