    1863 fuel tank leaking

Install the grommet in the tank, the the fitting in the grommet for best results. Matt is right, a bit of grease helps. Good tip on the best source for these, Art!

Why did cub cadet make a 1282?

The 482 was a belt driven 11hp Briggs, not a great engine, it's well known. When you jumped to the 582 you had another Briggs, although better the twin just wasn't what customers wanted in some cases. Remember that loyal IHCC customers were sold on the quality and durability of the Kohler...

7532 loader backhoe persistent diesel problem. Anyone else?

Dennis, speaking of diesel fuel heaters on your Navistar engine, I wholeheartedly agree with your observation! I see that Stanadyne offers a nice in-line fuel heater which looks good! And less than 80 watts besides, lol. George, that fuel filter or a reasonable copy is used by almost all the...

Hmmmm, I think I should be granted the honorary title of official thread killer here.....

    1872 Wheel weight

The only thing that I would add to David's statement is this: it's a good practice to recheck the hardware that bolts the trans/rear-end into the frame more frequently when using weights and fluid. It's much better to fix a small problem before it becomes a major headache.

    782D red cub cadet electrical

That circuit breaker is to protect the system from burning up the harness. It's located to guard battery voltage against causing a harness fire or a dead short to ground. It does reset, provided that it hasn't failed. They are cheap from an auto parts store, if in doubt. Think of their...

Wyatt, regarding the weak starter issue, the originals used on many Command twins were pretty inept. The later revisions are much more stout. It is the same starter used on the 999 cc Kohler and will wheel it over fine. Kohler # escapes me but I can assure that it will crank like never before.

Loss of power when PTO is engaged. 18HP Twin

Remove the belt to isolate the problem, if it is the clutch or the deck, first off. Don't know what engine you have, could be a V-twin running on one cylinder?

    1811 PTO Clutch

The "brake" feature was required to comply with safety standards, ie, blades stop within 3 seconds etc. If gap is too large the brake won't work right and the mower deck will coast to a stop when the clutch is turned off. It's a good feature and won't cause any undo wear. I hope that you will...

    1864 blown fuse

The voltage sensor only activates the dash iight, but they are recognized to wear out over time and give a false signal. I wonder if yours has an internal fault to ground?

    Massy rerguson lgt's

Marlin, I was shocked to see those Dynamark photos, they look so crappy in comparison to the much more refined looking MF tractors. I think that MF took special care to insure better quality. I always had believed the MF models to be nearly comparable to the Deere or CC offerings at the time...

    1810 with 38C deck question

Matt is correct. Using a fixed dimension spacer between to Timkin bearings was not their finest moment. As he said, they are generally too loose. His comment about using machine bushings and shims really is proper.

Nic, we need to find to an Elec-Trak by GE around, or an old Gravely with the engine behind the driver, lol

It would seem quite an accomplishment to clean up a Magnum twin. The newer OHV engines have a much cleaner exhaust already, and the Kohler EFI twins, using the Denso EFI system, are a fully contained package; you just bolt it in and go like a normal Command. Using closed loop design, the...

Problem removing one of the mower blades on 50C deck

If you do replace the long belt, be sure to check the spring loaded belt tensioner. Those like to rust tight and stubbornly refuse to pivot as designed sometimes. Just a hint that may save you problems later on. I remove the shoulder bolt that it pivots on and coat it with Never Seez or some...

    My new 1572 diesel

Steve, that is another good point. The water pump is a good solution as well. The 1572 seemed to be the model that suffered the overheat issue the worst. The 1772 had a deeper radiator to help with the heat. When I look at the fan design, I think there is plenty of room for a better one...

    My new 1572 diesel

I have learned that drilling a 1/8" hole anywhere around this area really does help with overheating. If you replace the t-stat you may find that it already has this hole in. If not be sure to add it as it does help quite a bit. Hole is indicated by blue paint mark

    My new 1572 diesel

The only issue I've encountered with the 54 GT is occasionally the deck belt will come off the pulleys when mowing in areas with lots of twigs. The spring loaded belt tensioner pulley has a shallow flange and this seems to be where the twigs would dismount the belt. I ordered a similar pulley...
