    129/149 changes throughout production run?

The 71 is s/n 405440. The other one I had said earlier was a 72 is actually an April 73 machine having a s/n 461906. For a while I also owned a March 74 machine that had the PTO Brake. The s/n on that was 504039

    129/149 changes throughout production run?

I have two 149s. The 71 does not have holes. The 72 does have them.

Two more goodies from the road trip

Lift the DRIVE RELEASE handle on the right side of the tunnel cover and it will roll a lot easier.

    QA42A blower

They are not extenders but I used the holes to bolt on some steel bars for busting drifts.

    pins & needles

I have replaced several driveshafts and pins over the years. My problems went away when my kids moved out and I was the only one driving the tractors anymore.

    149 with mechanical lift

Thanks for the validation Hydro Harry. The guy on FB that I was having the disagreement with is an active seller of tractor equipment on Long Island.

    149 with mechanical lift

I called out a guy on FB Marketplace that is selling a parts tractor which he said was a 149. It The photo clearly showed a mechanical lift arm so I told him it must be a 109 or 129. He came clean and said he had parted out the hydraulics from the 149 and threw a spare mechanical lift on it...

    149 with mechanical lift

Were 149s ever supplied from the factory with mechanical lifts? I know some 169s were but I never heard of a parts shortage causing 149s to be equipped with anything other than the hydraulic lift.

    Strange Noise and no Movement

It may be turning easily because a pin has sheared. Check the pins at both ends of the driveshaft. Replace that rag rag joint too. I had one fail on one of my 149s. The drive shaft swung wide, wiped out the filter and almost took out the metal hydraulic lines. Oh, the fan was wiped out too.

    Welder madness

    My thoughts exactly.

    Welder madness

Yes, the seat is actually welded to the spring bracket and the brake pad was welded to the pad retainer. PO must have had a set of unused automotive brake pads he decided to make do with.

    Welder madness

I picked up a 129 for parts but realized that with a little effort I could get it working again. However the previous owner should have his welding equipment confiscated for doing this to an IH Cub.

    Cleaning Out 129 Hydro Housing

I've already got the cover straightened and have the right length bolts so I am in good shape that way. Now if I could wiggle my nose and have the hydro gel disappear I'd be all set.

    Cleaning Out 129 Hydro Housing

I recently picked up a 129 to use as a spare parts machine for my 149s. After messing around with it for a little while I realized it could be a runner with just some TLC, well a good amount of TLC. Regardless I'm not willing to turn a runner into scrap or a pile of parts. The hydro cover...

Adjustable Ignition Points for Kohler Engines

That's what I usually do, as infrequent as it is. Used my timing light once and never bothered with again.

Adjustable Ignition Points for Kohler Engines

Thank you for the qualifiers. I'm not familiar with IIRC nor am I into pulling so as you say the infrequent need to replace or readjust standard points makes the effort to replace them with GM style not worth the effort.

Adjustable Ignition Points for Kohler Engines

A month or so ago someone replied to a thread that was discussing timing and point settings for Kohler engines. If my memory serves me correctly the person said that GM automotive points that have the adjustment screw could be mounted in place of the standard Kohler points which would make gap...
