Missing part from 1650 tube assembly

Thanks Digger, can I assume that the upgrade kit for the steering assembly is good for the 1650. Do all of the 1650s have the 70 -782 steering column? Looks like one could almost fabricate on of these? My service manual shows just a cam follower and lock nut? Jim

Missing part from 1650 tube assembly

Just recently purchased a 1650. Finally got the thing running and discovered that the Cam follower and lock nut are both missing from the tube assembly. They are both located on the steering lever which attaches to the steering assembly. The cam follower is used to eliminate backlash. Hope...

Guess I should back up a little...... When I first joined the forum [Feb 11 2021] I had a problem with my Cub 1650. New to the structure of this forum I just started to ask questions in the Introduction section. What I should have done is introduce myself and then go to a more appropriate...

On the ISO mounts...Do I need to remove the engine or can I slide them in between the engine and frame. Is there a way to inspect the mounts to see if their shot? Trying to get smart, I'm sure David Kirk has something to say about ISO mounts. Jim

Friday morning, 34 degrees, as a dare went out to the Cub.....pulled out the choke and within 5 seconds the engine started. Today, change the oil and grease the fittings. These Cubs are really cool. Think I'm hooked. ISO mounts?....need to do some research. Jim

I did learn a lot on this 1650. I think that it was a bunch of little things that kept the tractor from running. Or....maybe just one major thing and we hit on it through all the recommendations. I bought the 1650 with a belly mower a tiller [type 2] and a plow. The Cub also came with a set...

So................the ongoing saga of the dead 1650. Yesterday, I checked the ground wire and other wires for breaks and chaffing. The ground wire from the battery had some slight corrosion. Today, I also checked the spark using the new spark plug wire and jumped the ground [base of plug] to...

Gary this is all good stuff. Yes, it does smoke at first and then runs fine. I don't know if I have a condenser, it's electronic [point saver] type system? David Kirk system? Anyway, you make good sense when you state that I should check the electrical system. Probably start with the ground...

I don't know why he readings are different. Initially when I checked the compression it read 90-100lbs. When I squirted oil into the cylinder the compression rose to 100-110lbs. I'm getting 90-100lbs of pressure, doesn't that negate any problems with the ACR? When I squirt oil into the...

Harry and everybody else When I try to start the engine the plug is wet. I did recondition the carb, new needle and seat, new gaskets etc. I think I had a problem with the bad gas [since refilled with fresh gas] and low compression. I don't understand why I had 90-100lbs initially and...

Dale Will try the autolight Dave When I squirt starting fluid down the carb the engine starts. As long as I keep up with the fluid the engine continues to run [erratic.] The fuel supply is strong, however, it might be old gasoline. It is a #30 as stamped, but I suspect either bad gas, bad...

Your right Kraig 1650, didn't have my 10th cup of coffee that day. The engine will not fire up. I checked the compression which when cranked is 90-100lbs. When I squirt in oil it top off at 100-110 lbs. The plug is firing. I removed the plug and fired it up on the head, I can see good...

Just bought a cub 1560 and now having a tough time starting the beast. I've checked everything. Compression is 90-100 add oil and jumps to 100-110. Has spark with the H10 plug, gap is correct. The governor appears to be set correctly with the shaft set to the far left and arm set away from...
