Thanks, Digger. That Service Manual link is wonderful.

    Hydro Leak

I have searched tge FAQ but don't see anything that addresses the question of servicing the return tube connections in situ. Advice?

    Hydro Leak

I think I got lucky. On my 149, I recently performed a hydro transaxle exchange, due to a massive leak. I just happened to have a spare; so while the purist would have repaired the original, I tried this first. Good news, most everything works as intended and I am using my 149 for fall cleanup...

    Mower Deck Bearings

Indeed I see that now. Thanks for the direction. CCS to the rescue once again.

    Mower Deck Bearings

Mine has the single bearing style, which I don't think are really servicable. And the outer barrel of at least one of the spindle bearings is in pieces. So I know will need to replace the unit; not just bearings, etc. $80 each is not bad and would be great for new; but these are...

IH Cub Cadet Mower Deck Spindles and Pulleys 38" 42" 44" 50" 48" 54" Deck Kit | eBay item # 232213646031 I have seen this rebuilt kit offered on ebay. Wonder what others' opinions are with this product.

    Mower Deck Bearings

I've got a 149 with 44 inch 3-blade deck...and fortunately have a spare deck I am refurbishing and intend to use. Spindle bearings are shot...even frankly disintegrated. I have heard about high priced OEM replacements...and know I will likely have to go that route. Just wondering if anybody...

    Transmission Swap?

I have a 149 hydrostat which I use as a regular mower, etc. I have developed a heavy tranny leak and I have tried the easy things to fix it. I am considering going after the infamous cork gasket. However... I have a 1650 hydrostat parts tractor. Tranny looks practically new, but hasn't run in...

    Deck and Mule Drive Parts

To complete the circle: My 149 is mowing a lot better now. I installed a nearly new older set of blades...probably most important. I had questions about correct belts...even the parts lookup suggested 78" were correct for both PTO and deck. However, CCS correctly sells a 79" for the PTO. The 78"...

    Deck and Mule Drive Parts

That's all good to know. I have used my 149 for nearly 20 yrs, but really not as a lawn grooming machine. Now I use it sort of like a small bushhog, mowing some pasture borders, etc. It may be asking a lot for it to cut pasture grass/thick weeds; but I have to go over everything at least twice...

    Deck and Mule Drive Parts

Yes, I checked Spam and even my deleted mail to see if I accidentally trashed it. For all its benefits, I learned the hard way a long time ago that I cannot take for granted electronic mail communications. They are subject to miss-sending, misinterpretation, misdirection, mis-forwarding...

    Deck and Mule Drive Parts

I did as you suggested and did find part numbers/diagrams. That will be helpful in the future. I note that the parts diagrams show the 149 uses the same 78" belts for PTO/mule drive and the deck spindles; whereas CCS lists a 79" belt for the PTO drive. I wonder is there a reason for the...

    Deck and Mule Drive Parts

I have a IHCC 149 with typical mule drive and 44inch 3-blade deck. I sent this to CCS a couple days ago but never heard back. I just need some help with part numbers to ensure I order the right things. 1. I need the PTO to Deck belt...which I think is Cub Cadet Mule Drive PTO to Deck Belt...

I'm glad I asked! Thanks all. mlj

    Poor mowing

I see CCS has several blade choices for 44" decks, but mower models not listed. I don't need special blades, just similar to OEM for a 149 with standard 44" 3-blade deck. Which blade choice?

    Poor mowing

Well, I did go a season with the blades upside down. Yeah...didn't cut too well that year. But that was only one year. The blades are old and have been sharpened many times and are a bit tapered. I haven't thought about that. Are new blades readily available?

    Poor mowing

I have a 149 with 44" deck which I have used for general mowing for 15 years. I keep the blades sharp and deck/belts in good shape. Everything seems to be working as intended. My question: I have never gotten really clean cuts with this machine. I often have to go over the same area a couple...
