    Replacememt for 149

We'll see what I come up with. I really just want to turn a couple bolts and be done. I may try cleaning the one that's on it now really well and put it back together and order a replacement. If she'll run I'll aireate my lawn while I'm waiting on the replacement.

    Replacememt for 149

Yeah, my brother said the same thing. My other hobby is air cooled Volkswagens and so I am no stranger to rebuilding a carburetor. Was just hoping for a quick replacement . I see prices all over the place and thought that if one them was worth a little bit, I'd give it a shot. For me my cub...

    Replacememt for 149

i need a new carb for my 149. I have found a lot of options ranging in price from about $20. What is a good option? I previously cleaned up the original which got it running but it didn't run well after and soon quick working altogether.

My last post go lost, I think so here we go again. Roland, Before I put Hytran-Ultra in my cub do I need to know what is in my cub already or is the Hytran compatible with whatever fluid is in there already?

Thad, Before I put that in my cub do I need to know what's in my cub now or will be compatible with most anything that is in there. As for the hearing protection, I find the little squishy ones to be best. You roll them down about the diameter of a Q-tip and put them in your ear. They...

James M, Porting and polishing refers to smoothing the intake and exhaust passages in the head and around the valves. In some cases this includes increasing the bore of the exhaust and intake ports. The reason for all of this work is to improve air flow in and out of the cylinder through the...

Been a while since I've been here but my last post about my 149 dealt with the hydraulic lift leeaking off between mowings. Well I've notice that the leak off is much worse than I thougt. When I pull the lever to raise, I sometimes have to wait several seconds before the deck raises. And the...

Charlie, I'm going to guess that the reason I didn't get a face full of hytran is because the fluid level is low. Check FAQ's but found no info. How do I check and fill the fluid level? And should I top it off with Hytran even though I don't know what's in it now. I have some concerns...

Ok, I posted a while back about having trouble with my 149 lifting (hydraulic) the deck. Charlie thought it may the linkage on the control valve. Checked the linkage and found no problem. When I dismounted the deck from the carriage and could EASILY move the lift cylinder in and out. I...

Charlie, Using the wider wheels will increase the width of the foot print of the tire. Wider footprint, more tread contact, MORE PULL. Maybe not enough to matter ..... until it matters.

Charlie When I check that link for the lift lever, what am I looking for? Excessive play, broken link? Or some other problem? What's the fix? Replace, rebuild, refurb the link?

Lonny, I considered this but I have know significant movement anywhere. Obvioiusly not the deck but when I remove the cover and look at the lift cylinder, not even the lift cylinder moves. What little bit of movement it does make, it seems to be pushing out or attempting to lower the deck.

I think I broke my 149. Monday, I changed the mule drive on my 149 from the old worn out one the a much better less old one. When I went to reinstall the deck I had to force the carriage into the down postion. When I tried to lower the carriage to reinstall the deck it would not lower when...

Brad and Mike Thanks for the info on the points. Took a quick look & I'm guessing they are behind the little cover below the carb. I'll check later. Now back to the hydro lever adjustment. This is a 149. The only possible adjustment I can find is to tighten the nut on the bottom of the...

Checked FAQ first but can find nothing about adjusting the timing on a 149. Mine is difficult to start and at times backfires through the carb while cranking. With the air filter off, I can see that it is getting gas by the amount of it that is running out of the carb the more I crank it. And...

Great conversation on the Hydro lever adjustment. After reading all the posts and considering the adjustments I made to mine last year, I took my 149 out yesterday to start the spring yard work. While working on the trunion improved the Hydro operation, I still have speed control problems but...

Charlie, Steve, I guess I could have posed my question a little more clearly. But Steve your on the right track. I'm looking to compare not so much the layout of the deck blades but more how similar the overall shape of the two decks are. As I've been looking for a bagger, I know that I...

How similar are the 44" decks that were put on the 782 and earlier cubs? Pictures anyone??

Charlie, You said you modified some gator high lift blades to throw the grass. Did you modify the blades or did you just install them on the deck? I believe I have high lift blades on my deck now so getting a bagger may be what I need power flow or not.

Charlie, Is that a late model CC bagger or one from a later model adapted to your 100. Does it work ok? Does the deck have enough push to put the grass and leaves in the hoppers?
