Hello all, I'm Mark; new to the forum not new to the Cub 2182s (owned 5 have 2 still), have lots of knowledge and always are willing to help others.

Welcome John. The 2182 is one of my favorite Cubs of all. The lift control linkage may be corroded, you could spray PBBlaster or something similar on the linkage by popping off the side panel then gently working control to loosen. You may have serious corroding going on elsewhere too under...

The biggest Cub Cadet garden tractor?

According to the chart the load placed on engine can be handled efficiently when rpm reaches peak torque. If your running in the sweet spot (~2200-3600) you're not overloading or generating excess heat. And and that point since rpm and cooling have a direct relationship -- lower rpm, less...

I believe that the manufacturers recommending WOT is to avoid complaints about the mower not cutting properly. Keeping the blades sharpened and adjusting the engine speed to the job, helps me take it easy my 40-year old Kohler and my grass looks great. I doubt if you would find any operators...

Actually there is an operating range for these engines from about 1800 to 3600 rpm (aka the powerband). At 2000 rpm, torque is peaking — above that you’re just spinning the mower blades faster.

I got the Berrymans stuff, smells like lacquer thinner. Have soaking it now.

I rarely run any of my tractors WOT. My M18 workhorse gets run 1/2 to 3/4 for mowing, with sharp blades there is no need. For cooling don’t think it matters, lower rpm generates less heat.

Diesels have absolutely amazing low-rpm power. Yep the WG600 needs to be rev'ed for sure. And the Onans are a money pit if you have one going downhill. I managed to get lucky and find a great low-hour P220 for my 982. If you look at the torque curve for the D600 and Onan they're both making...

Hey thanks for these great tips! I have never taken the time to soak carb parts but makes total sense. I normally charge right into a carburetor but when I saw the price of a new one and the other poor choices I held off. These Keihin carbs are well made however.

Well as far as cubic inches, Onan is top dog: Onan B48/P220 - 781cc Kohler M20 - 769cc Kohler CH22 - 674cc Kubota WG600 - 599cc The Onan is a beast and torque monster!

So I finally got the fuel bowl off ok was stuck on there tight. I’ll clean it out now and maybe all I will need is a rubber fuel bowl gasket. The old carb doesn’t miss — the new el cheapo carbs both cause an engine miss. I wonder whats up that?

I don’t see any aftermarket rebuild kits. I’ll have to call a Kubota dealer this week to see if they still sell them. Since I am returning a new junk carb that leaks I may as well try to get the fuel bowl off and see whats inside, since they’ll likely pitch it in the trash anyhow :). I always...

    Best Carb Cleaner

I have a carburator on a 2182 (Kubota wg600 gas) that needs to have the choke on slightly to run smoothly. I want to try to clean the carb without taking the bowl assembly off (if possible) because I am not sure it is serviceable. It is a japanese Keihin carb and a new one from Kubota is over...

For the Mustang riding mower — I’ll bet after 30 minutes on that metal seat your butt would have matching holes in it, particularly in 90 degree heat :)

And the “news” sites are saying that the supply chain problems are all fixed now. I don’t think so. Wife wants a new refrigerator and the delivery estimate is ‘we don’t know when’

Would love to have one of those Coates Tire changers. I started last week by getting a Harbor Freight Mini Tire changer for $69 which is supposed to handle 6-12" wheels. Perfect I thought. You can see how good it is from the picture, center shaft bent easily it is soft metal -- it's a toy! The...
