I'm back to PTO problems this morning. PTO engages when I engage the switch to the upward position. As soon as the switch hits the middle position the PTO disengages. The mower will not start in this position (I found out after stopping the mower and trying to start again). - I bypassed the...

@1811Cub Thanks for the tips. I tested voltage of the battery and it registered at 12.8v when the engine wasn't running. When I started the engine, I tested the voltage at the posts and saw 12.8. Not much changed. I'm guess I probably need a new voltage rectifier/regulator. Could you point me at...

Hello fellow Cubs! November is here!! I hope everyone is doing well and now it's time for the 1864 update. Before I start, I know that it is veteran's day. For all the veterans out there, thank you for your sacrifice and service. You have all my respect and admiration. On to the details... I...

Hello Cubs! I know it has been a while since my last post. I had a radiator replacement I had to do on my old car. I hate when those things interfere with tractor time. I also went to the NC state fair where they had an IH Cub Cadet section. They had 20+ tractors that looked great! I snapped a...

@PACub100 I've been watching these ads like a hawk. Thanks for sharing. I saw this one a couple of days and here is what the drive looks like (one way): Is that worth the 12 hours round-trip? That is a great price with the mule drive. I saw a few other decks in PA as well but those are 8-9+...

@Rich Donohue That is generous of you. Do you have a model number for the deck? If it is compatible (which I think it is), I'm very interested. Please feel free to send me your information in a direct message and we can exchange info.

Good evening! The owner of the deck[1] on fb marketplace wrote back and informed me that the deck is a 48" deck off a 2185 model cub. I checked a previous forum post here 1864 Deck Questions and the link posted to the compatible decks for conversion did not show this model. This document here...

@PACub100 Does that 54" require a larger or different mule drive? I spoke with a Cub rep at ihccw website and they mentioned that the 38 and 42 inch decks work with the same mule drive and then the larger ones required a different one. Might be the narrow vs regular. I'll defer to other experts...

Happy Saturday fellow Cubs! After an evening of propane torch, breaker bar, impact, gear puller, and a few choice words... I was able to remove the blades from the 42" deck. The issue is that I cannot remove the nut from the spindle. I don't want to damage it as I believe the grease fitting...

@mgwin thanks and I'm located south of Raleigh in a little town called Fuquay-Varina. I believe the John Deere factory is just south of our place. If there is an excuse to meet up and work on something, let's do it! I wish my dad would have taken the deck off when he parked it. I think the...

@Doug Rusk Welcome to you too! This forum has been great and it's only been a few days. Says a lot about this awesome community. @gary noblit Thanks for the reply. I have some hobo-freight breaker bars and impact sockets up to 1" standard. They wouldn't fit over the top of that nut. I'm...

@mgonitzke, Unfortunately they appear that they have been seriously neglected. All of the bolts are completely rusted. I attempted to do some removal and started to break out the grinder before calling it quits. The deck is the 42". I ordered the hydraulic fluid and filter so that I can perform...

Thanks for the replies! I agree Gary, this tractor was the premiere back in the 90's. Loved driving it. I worked my tail off when I was a kid. Mowed every neighbor's yard that would allow it. My mother purchased a 1042 about 8 years ago and that mower is no where near the quality of the 1864...

Hello IHCubCadet! My name is Kenny and I just inherited my childhood, early 90's, cub cadet 1864 that I used to run a lawn care service as a kid/teenager. Unfortunately, My father parked it about 10 years ago without covering it and the poor old Cub has suffered from exposure. I've have begun...
