    Quietline 1000 Down under

While I am VERY partial to all things 82 series, the Cyclops era machines did have some engineering improvements over it's predecessors. I think overall they might have been the best Cubs ever EXCEPT for that damned plastic nose. The only benefits with the plastic are less rattles and no rust.

Love the Scouts. Unfortunately, they are few and far between here in Northern PA. A lot of them succumbed to rust many years ago.

Fair enough. I will guarantee that the Corn Head grease will do the job much better than that used up slop that was in there. Specs for anyone that is interested: https://www.cenex.com/~/media/cenex/files/lubricants/cornhead grease/corn head grease_pds-h9-02.ashx

New to site need advice on 1572 D

That applies to ALL 82 series and newer Cubs with the aluminum transaxle. That is one of the first things I check when I buy one.

The PTO on these Cubs draw 4-5 amps upon engagement. The PAR36 size 35 watt OEM incandescent bulbs draw almost 3 amps each for a total of roughly 11 amps draw with the headlamps and PTO in use.

I have seen a few of the short wheelbase non Supers for sale on Facebook Marketplace. Most are north of $2k for units with horrible cosmetics, and poor electrical systems. I guess I will have to pay the piper if I want one bad enough-preferably a red 782D, but will consider all.

As for the mower deck, the 44C and 50C decks pop up often, especially on venues such as Craigslist, Facebook Marketplace, and Ebay.

    1862 Governor surging

If you have a fixed jet Walbro carb, better to shelve it and go with a fully adjustable Carter #26 type that has a high speed and idle mixture screw.

The stock Kubota alternator is rated 14 amps at full throttle. That is more than adequate to supply the needs of a garden tractor. Check ALL connections for corrosion or loose wires. Some guys have converted the Kubota voltage regulator to the simpler Kohler unit as pictured.
