am i right to say for kohler engines for the manual the front of the engine is the PTO end and the rear of the engine is the flywheel end? have to replace a leaking seal on the PTO end and see it needs to be put in at a certain depth.

How do mower decks stand up and compare? I know the 44,A,C decks seem to be more popular than the 50 A, C decks. How to they compare to the fab decks of 38, 42, 48? You know the ones with the outer smaller blades and the large center blade.

Happy New Year everyone. We decieded to put the orginal sand blasted muffler back on after painting it. We'll see what happens. I have another question. We've been having starting issues with the 149 cranks over really good, but the choke has to be fully out and the throttle lever has to...

Muffler update on my 149. Over Thanksgiving i removed it and knocked out some carbon. I had to leave it sit since I was on the road again after Thanksgiving. My son took it to work and sand blasted the inside and had removed more carbon. He blew it out as best he could with an air hose but...

Lots of questions.... I mow wide open really no load, about 20 min into mowing the same pattern. On a level surface. I use premium gas with sea foam. I do idle down when I head back to the garage usually for a few miniutes. No back fire after turning key off. when the bang happens i don't...

What is the deal with removing these balance gears in kohler single engines? I know they come loose and can crack and break the block. What exactly makes the gear come loose? Does it break apart, bearing seizes or comes loose? snap ring wears thru...ect.

Thanks Harry, I looked there but completely missed it. I thought it was the starter pulley.

Just noticed the parts look up does not show the large pulley that drives the front PTO clutch. Where do I find that on the look up? It's for my 149.

Are narrow frame creepers a correct fit for QL's and 1X9 tractors except that you need a handle extension?

Clark, looks freshly painted. Sure you have good grounds on the condenser and engine to the frame? 12Volts at coil terminal from starter switch?

Got the 149 out this weekend. Ran really good but all of a sudden it was running like it was out of gas and after pulling the choke out it would stay running but lacked a lot of power. When it quit running. I could restart it about 1/2 hour later and it would run good again for about...

I haven't taken it apart yet. That will be the next step. I don't really understand these things, but I was kinda thinking that the Ohm meter over the F and A terminal would show it was open if the feild coils were bad.

What would be the problem with a starter/generator that does not charge? I'm not getting any power out of the "A" stud and I tried grounding the feild "F" terminal. still nothing. I disconnected both A and F wires and checked resistance across both terminals and got 8 ohms. So it shouldn't...

Lawn rust fungus and maple tree roots

I think this is my first time posting in the sandbox. Part of my lawn gets rust fungus really bad in the fall. I'm thinking about tilling up the ground since it's uneven and needs some dirt filled in. Can I just till this and the fugus will go away or do I need to spray it with a funguside...
