Well Gary, my wife wanted me to make her employees something for Christmas. So I had some scrap blood wood and a pile of scrap hard maple laying in the shop. So I whittled these boxes out on the band saw. They have purple flocking on the interior, and 5 coats of shellac. I think they turned out decent.

Jay,love it!!..Truly appreciate mixing woods with opposing grain and texture..I'm just all about contrast...It's been so decent outside I'm still doing mowers..Hope it stays this way!!! It's amazing how time it takes to do one small project...

It hasn't been decent weather up here for a while. It's been cold, but we haven't had hardly any snow at all. My lake has about 6 inches of ice on it, I've been fishing a couple times, got a few meals of perch through the ice so far, hopefully a bunch more! I'm gonna move my shack and hopefully find some pike after Christmas.
 
Jay, no. I have had to shift my focus to other things. I did learn that you do not want to put them in a drawer with desiccant in it...
 
Clutch time for the 108. 50 degrees in my shop and -2 outside. Thinking about going and buying a mini lathe to face my pressure plates cause it’s hard to find a machinist in town.

Scored this Kurt D675 yesterday off the bay.
Had been up for a week w/no bid.
will need a small parts rebuild kin and possibly a new main screw.
And a bunch of clean up.
Not bad for $65!

Thanks Robert. I have been him hawing around about buying a lathe and milling machine combo for a while (grizzly 4015) I think but just couldn’t talk myself in to it. So I just got a HF mini to start with. See how I like it.
 
Jay, just to remind you there are other things to make this winter...buckets(ladies love 'em for wastebaskets) and candle holders....It caught up ,it's 0 and 40 mph winds down here...makes my plow pump run a little slow for a while...

I've spun my bride a few candle holders on the lathe this summer, I need to try a bucket soon though.

Jay, there are several examples on the net making buckets...You have to make jigs to cut pieces so the angles are right..(Don't ask me,I've forgotten,I still have the jigs)It's not too difficult but the angles have to be right to fit .I cut the bottom groove on table after shaping pieces...go for it!!..It's supposed to be in high 40's this weekend down here.....
 
ok guys,not puffing just trying to inspire you..How about pistol boxes? A couple are walnut,1 is an awesome curly cherry..They make great gifts are not complicated to build.I really like the tooled leather in the lid..another walnut wall mount candle holder from knot of tree...yep,those are black powder pistols...

More knives to tell a story...One of our members reached out from West Virg. and made a very kind offer..If I wanted some commercial type hacksaw blades he would send them to me for postage cost. I'm a bit surprised to say the least but of course I said yes. Now I have enough high quality steel to make 14 knives. I don't have permission to use his name but if you know a guy named mullins shake his hand for me.. Note 1 is my version of a rambo knife with good saw teeth left on.The decor on sheath done with a woodburner.The handles are all elk points....What kind of idiot would cut up a 5x5 to make knife handles?? Me.........There are some good guys on here !!!

Well Gary, here's my latest bright idea. Even though I don't drink the God awful crap they call whiskey, alot of my friends do. So, I had the bright idea of making shot glasses. But I wanted them to look like tiny whiskey barrels, with the inside charred. This is my first one, and it turned out pretty OK I think, for a scrap wood project anyways.
