Picked up a 551 snow blower awhile back for $200. Just getting around now to mounting it. Blower is in decent condition, but totally unaware that a special lift bracket was needed for my Cyclops Super, part number is #603-0027 ... sticker shock @ $150 if you can even get one. If it were a "pull" bracket could probably rig something up, but I think it is a "push". And it looks too difficult to make. Does anyone out there have one, or any ideas? thanks.
 
I thought the 551 was suppose to fit both with the bracket that came on them. At least I thought I read that somewhere recently.....🤔
 
Oh the lift arm that slips over and bolts to the rock shaft? Tried xtreme motor works? Even at $150 your still not hurt for total $ invested in a 551. Not the answer your looking for but it is what it is. Probably find a used one if you look long enough. If you have somebody you know in machining or tool maker trades one would not be THAT hard to make. Wouldn't look exactly the same but a functional one could be fabricated I would think.
 
Yeah -- it's the bracket that slips on the end of the rockshaft. You've got me thinking about how to make one. There are probably hundreds out there sitting in bone yards rusting lol.
 
Ya it sucks when you know they are out there but you are missing that 1 thing to get everything going.

Ok I bought one for $105 at xtrememotorworks, not bad. As a cheaper alternative (but alot of trouble) I thought about making a bracket from a piece of angle iron and welding it on the end piece of the rockshaft. That endpiece actually separates from the rockshaft and could be gotten as a spare from several other cyclops like 1440/1863/1864 or a any super.

I dont think I would try the angle iron..I'm not sure it would clear everything nor am I sure it would be strong enough. Also I was thinking those shafts were not always that easy to get apart. Or at least I think I have read others having trouble. Not tried it myself.

I was thinking metal plate say 1 inch or maybe a lil better and cut to shape and mill out the center hole. Tho I suppose it could be laid out and cut with a torch then carefully ground to fit. Then of course drill and tap the holes for the bolts. Could be done but a guy would have to have the time. The route you took was the better plan.
