Thank You. I appreciate a place where I can ask for help before blindly replacing parts.
As for the leak from my transaxle, further checking shows the leak comes from the left side relief valve on top of the tranny. Appears to have a vent hole on top, where it's leaking. Is it a bad valve?

Al, WELCOME!

Any relation to forum member Brian Albrecht? He lives in Wisconsin now but I believe he is originally from New York.

Very common, bad relief valve. They can be sent out and rebuilt. Also, good quality replacements are pretty reasonable. See the board sponsors.

Al is from what I would call "upstate" NY being from Hamilton, which is what I call central NY. But no relation that I know of.

You can buy a pair of aftermarket valves brand new for under $175. OEM Cub valves are stupid expensive.

Can you supply me with a web site for them? Thank You.
Welcome from Painted Post N.Y. What fluid did you use ?
I understand that the transaxle requires a B 6, Hy tran fluid. I can't seem to locate that type oil anywhere locally. Any help in other compatible oils?

Many here would caution against substitutes. HyTran has something that keeps the moisture away from the business end of the hydro. It can be interesting to clean out after a few years/decades, but it has proven to be outstanding where others may have been proven to be acceptable.

Cub Cadet and Case IH dealers should have it. Digger has it above at CC Specialties.

Just bought a gallon of HyTran from the local Case/IH dealer. With NY sales tax it was around $28.

Original Hy-Tran has the quality that it absorbs moisture up to 1% of its volume. It's good stuff, and has a distinctive odor!
