Hi All,
It’s always something! Today the bendix on the starter decides to be “difficult” and not engage. Looks like it is original and may be time for a replacement/rebuild.

Sooooo oo let me know if there is a “trick” to getting it out / off the engine. The lower nut is impossible to get at. I am thinking I may need to loosen the engine to get better access.

Any experienced wrench’s care to weigh in on this helping this old girl get a refreshed starter ? I tried coming in from the operator side ...no dice the cowl is in the way. Decided to walk away and have another adult beverage.

Check with the board sponsors. Offered is OEM new for $210 or quality replacement for just under $100. If you can source the parts, they are an easy starter to rebuild.
