cubs, you said it blows when you shut it off,did you mean when you trying starting it again while engine is hot?I'm no expert on elec. but it sounds heat related.like something is still on that shouldn't be but bad grounds being interuppted can cause a wire to heat so can arcing on positive side....might take a hand full of fuses to track but removing 1 wire at a time from main switch might prove a point.I'm even wondering if sol is staying in on mode or maybe starter is getting too hot..other issues causing heat could be plugged fins,low oil, most of this has been said in previous posts by guys who surely know more than I
After using it for more than 5 min . it pops when i shut key off.
 
I would check out the wire going to the headlights, tail lights as there may be a short caused by age.
When you turn the key off you do turn them on for a moment long enough to blow the fuse.

If that same green wire in question is connected the ground wire for the hour meter, which is green according to the schematics, that would not be your issue. If it is connected to the power side, and there isn't a part requiring current in the circuit with it, then that would be a direct short to ground. You would see a smoke show if that were the case.

Personally, if that is not the proper location for that green wire to terminate, I would try to place it wherever it was from the factory.
 
After tearing a half a mile of black electrical tape off I now see the green wire goes from the battery to the key switch up to the idiot lights and into the solenoid and then down into the chassis probably to the lights
 
That is correct for the green wire. It is connected to the bolt holding the solenoid on with a spade terminal. Leave it the way it is.
It also connects to the frame on the left side down by the starter.
If you remove the blue wire from the ignition switch, remove plug and stick a small pin in there and pull the blue wire out from the back of the plug, then you can see if it still blows a fuse.
 
Took forever to get the fuel pump Prime back up long enough to run on its own but good call Ipalma I unhook the blue wire ran it for 20 minutes and did not blow the fuse gold star of the day to you SIR. Thank you.
 
So, evidently there was an issue with the lighting circuit. Usually, the great amount of electrical tape on the other wires is bad. Glad it's more reliable now.
