I have recently purchased an old international Harvester cub cadet like my dad and I used to use to run his tiller in the garden growing up. I’ve always wanted one. I have the tiller that he had and was trying to get it hooked up but I keep running into problems. The last problem I have is I received a mule drive from my nephew which was on my dad‘s old cub cadet that I believe was from the 60s but the belt drive pulley on the motor it’s too far back so it lines right up with the shaft that holds the mule drive pulleys. So I am assuming the mule drive Is different on the later model ones versus early model cub cadets? I am running out of time to plant my garden and I’m trying to get the tiller to run. The serial number on my tractor is 2050046U463884. I don’t even know what year or model it is because someone spray painted it. I’m going to restore it when I get it all going. I just need help finding the correct Part number for the mule drive I need it finding a mile drive period. I would so greatly appreciate any help. I love these tractors!

Have you ever installed a mower deck on a Cub Cadet????
Do you understand how the belt tension pulley on the mule drive functions? (Push in and latch to release the tension.)
It works exactly the same way for the tiller, that should put your pulley back where it belongs.

That still will not work, you do know there are different ones with the same setup?
His should look like this one without the tension arm, and should have 2 threaded adjusters to set the tension on the belt. The white one is for an 82 series tractor.

My RED 782 that I originally bought new with a #2 tiller works nicely with the "White" mule drive and a very expensive 5/8" belt.🙄
So far no-one is telling the OP what he needs to know. I was trying to determine if he understood how the mule drive tension operates, but he has chosen not to comment on his Cub cadet experience level.

I do understand how the mile drive works. I help my dad install his many times. I just didn’t know there were different mule drives. If anyone has the one I need and wants to sell it or trade for the one I have It would be greatly appreciated!! So glad I found this site. Thank you guys.

You have a 129, likely produced during the first week of march 1973.
One of the series 6, first of the wide frames that include the 1X8/9 Cubs
i.e., 108, 109, 128,129, 149 & 169
There were over 100,000 of series 6 units built.
Odd numbers denote Hydro units
even numbers denote gear drive units
1st 2 digits denote HP

Would you be interested in selling this if you have that one? Or trade for a white one?
