Howdy, hope someone can help me out here. My starter went on my Cub Cadet LT42, model # 13A6A9CS056, 547cc Intellipower. I'm pretty sure it is a 2021 model, but it might be 2020. For some reason, this has become just about the hardest thing I have ever searched for online. I removed the starter, and there are no numbers on it to help me look it up. I can't even find a manual or parts list with the starter listed on it. I used to do SEO (Search Engine Optimization) for a living, so I know how to do all the tricks with search engines, but I am totally flummoxed with this search. Can someone out there help me? I would gladly name my firstborn after you, though he's likely to be an ugly kid. HELP!!!!! I've literally spent hours looking, no idea why this particular item is so hard to find. This it the fist thing I've had to search for parts wise for this Cub Cadet, I'm hoping everything isn't like this. Wasn't this one of the biggest sellers for 2021? That just makes it harder to understand. Seriously, I'd really appreciate any and all help.

Thanks Ipalma, it's not under warranty, I bought it used. Just went to Home Depot to see if they could help, they gave me an address for a parts center in town, who will test my starter to see if it's bad, and order me a new one if needed. I'd still rather find one online.

That engine and starter were both made in China for Cub Cadet. Many of the higher priced units taht year had the Koehler 7000 or Kawasaki engines, so they were not all that common overall. The parts for those engines have been slow, but they are coming through, so contact a good dealer and be patient, or see if you can get that one rebuilt locally. Also, be sure it is the starter. Many people I talk to each week have other problems, but want to blame the starter.

Thanks for the replies. I went to a parts place, they told me the same thing about the starter being from China, and that they are just about impossible to find online. He also tested my starter, and it was fine. Turns out I had a completely different problem. I always check my engine oil every 3rd or 4th time I run the mower (I only have a 1/4 acre yard). Checked it the time before this last cut, and it was perfect. Turns out, the oil filter had loosened just enough that all fo the oil leaked out between the last time I ran it and this time. Ran it for about 10 minutes and ran out of gas, but that was enough to completely seize up my engine. So, brand new mower busted.

Man, that sucks. The positive though, since that was the cub branded engine, you can now upgrade to the engine of your choice! Briggs, Kohler, Kawasaki for example. I know which one I'd look for, but now you have options on putting in a better, more reliable power plant, that has parts readily available.
