Mike, they are two different QA42As from two different forum members. Todd has the line on the nearly new one and Steve posted the photos of his slightly rusty one.

It looks to me like that welded on bracket is just welded over the top of the original.I did basically the same to mine except I just pinned it.I extended mine about 6 to 8 inches and it still takes two hands to lift it.

I agree with taking 2 hands to lift. I quit using the blower on my 682 because of the weight. I even added the lift assist spring which only helped a little bit. Anyone else have the same problem?????

Plow on the 100, showthrower on it as well - not fun to raise and lower. Not horrible, but you knew it was there.
Another reason why I LOVE my 1450... (y) (y)

I love the hydraulic lift on my 149, too. Never realized that some folks have to struggle. I have a potched together ??qa42??, Hard converted to fit the wide frame, but po got it too close to the front of the frame, don't have enough adjustment range on the belt, and the shafts are not parallel. Will need to get it to a welding shop. Only trouble I ever had lifting it was due to sheared spirol pins.

I'm going to guess that the PO had a manual lift cub cadet. As mentioned earlier, a longer arm would make it easier to lift. In the past, I had a 123 with manual lift. It was difficult to raise and to push the button to lower the snowblower. Even with the spring assist option. Getting 149 with hydraulic lift was a great upgrade. Now I've experimented with different lift arms to get the blower to lift higher and to float lower.

Steve, if you torch that off you'll have to weld something else on in it's place. Not sure why the PO cut off the original lift bracket and welded a replacement on in the same place, other than the replacement appears longer which would make it easier to lift but might limit the lift height. :drool2:

Kraig... I'm a little confused by something in this image... is it just blurry, is my vision bad, or does that Wide Frame say 106??????

106 is a versatile model. We just had a hydro version, now a wide frame 106 as well!

Yes, it does say 106 and is a wide frame. Keep in mind that prototype tractors and implements were used in the manuals and brochures.
