Good to hear it mows well in addition to looking good! Nice job.

Now clean that green stuff off of it.

I haven’t had a narrow frame for a long time, but when I did, the guys seemed to lean toward the aftermarket (brass?) buttons made by a few guys over the factory graphite version. You might do a search.
...or go right to CCS and look.

If the pulley moved, that’s that locking bearing, right?

clean the hole up good ,maybe a little grease,c clamp on the face and a spacer on the back side for the clamp to sit on so the end of the button can pull through the hole,a little luck and you'll be ok ! I use the brass buttons cause they don't break when pulled in and they are more durable in my opinion !

Robert, the deck turned out great! I love the 42" decks, been mowing with them since the late 1960's when my parents bought a new model 125 with a 42" deck. Still have both, though they are torn apart for refurbishing that I never seem to find time to complete. I have more 125s and two other 42" decks. 😀

When looking at that diagram of the spindles and this conversation on the direction of seal insertion,I'm not embarrassed to ask that when you use the word "backwards" does that mean rubber out,or metal out?So top one should be ??????out.Bottom one should be ?????? out? I just like to do things correct and once. Thanks .

I'll offer my two cents.. just because. "flippin' the seal "backwards" of the drawing also prevents flow as the seal will be pushed up against the shaft and housing. So no flow means no grease. In theory all the grease will be heading towards the lower bearing as the top is sealed and doesn't flow. I always put'em back in the way the drawing shows. It's worked for 30 plus years, why change it now? The deck isn't smeared with grease on top, nor the bottom for that matter.

So I pulled the pto off cause the belt was rubbing the lever shaft, the bearing was right where the manual said to put it,flush with the end of the shaft. So I saw I had about an eighth or so to push it back, not much clearance but I can at least see daylight between the belt and shaft

you'll have to keep an eye on the shaft, as the belt hits it, it'll cause wear. There are some pics of the belt wearing into the axles. Maybe Kraig can find one or two.

something doesn't seem right if the belt is rubbing on stuff, something worn ? mule drive pulley dia ? shouldn't be rubbing if all is correct. just my opinion ! maybe more pics of mule drive and pulley area would help ?
