Question about narrow frame mule drives

Hi everyone...it's been awhile. I've been more focused on my MF equipment of late but I have some questions about the narrow frame mule drives on my IH tractors. Most of the time I use the older style mule drive on my 70, 100, and 123. I use those with the pin on subframe and cast end decks...

A great day for mowing on an IH Cub....

Greetings everyone, It's been awhile since I've checked in... I hope everyone is healthy and doing well. I thought I'd share some mowing video shot just today: Best wishes all, Steve

Jim S...There was a 38 inch deck of that type available for the Quiet Lines and 82 series. I believe it was the 38C deck.

Hi all...it's been a tough week here. My Dad passed away last Thursday after his second battle with cancer. He loved old tractors, including his restored IH Super M, our IH 560 bought new by my grandpa in 1961, and a JD 110 that he had restored to mint condition a few years ago. My main...

Sometimes I envy you do-it-yourselfers and other times not so much. Two weeks ago I noticed a horrible grinding sound coming from the front of my 100 while mowing. After taking it to my repair guy at the local shop (a former IH dealer)...old enough to know these inside out from working on them...

Those old Prestolite batteries are pretty neat. On a related note I'm always hoping to find more sets of the original style mower blades for the 38" and 42" cast end decks that are in new or very good condition...the wing tips were different than more recent replacements and the cutting edge...

Brian A...Thanks for calling attention to this. It's important and practical information for anyone who uses the old narrow frames to mow grass. I'm not sure how many of us knew this but it sure came as a surprise to me... Marty G...A super nice job on that 100...Great Work!

Brian Albrecht...Thanks so much for the suggestion. It turns out the float stop on my 100 was just 6 inches. The one on my 73 was over a half inch longer so I just swapped them and everything works great when mowing with the 100 now. My 123 also has a longer one and my 70 has another short...

I have a question about adjusting the mowing height on my 100. The lowest notch gives a mowing height of about 2 inches which is too short. The next notch up gives a mowing height around 2.5 inches which is a bit longer than I like. The obvious solution is to let the lift lever float between...

Shultzie...Wow, what a cool Cub! I second Steve B...I'd love to have one, especially with a mower like that. Come to think of it I've seen those decks before but not many...I'm guessing they are very rare now days, maybe even more rare than the tractor? The discharge chute resembles the cast...

Doug A...Thanks. I think just tightening the capscrew may have helped--we'll see. It wasn't completely tight.

According to the FAQs, there is a capscrew on the governor high speed bracket. Apparently I should loosen that capscrew, adjust the bracket until desired rpms at high throttle are reached, then tighten the screw. Confirmation of this would be appreciated. I don't have a tach but I can be extra...

Doug and Ed...Thanks for chiming in. I'll check the manual for governor adjustment but I'm wondering if this is best left to an expert? The engine runs okay as is but it needs to be tweaked a bit and I don't want to mess it up.

It seems the rpms on my 100 are just a bit low at full throttle than they should be. I'm guessing this can be adjusted by a turn of a screw but I don't want to make things worse. Wondering which screw should be turned which way?
