Help! 2072 that cranks really hard!

Spent about a half hour searching for "Sticky" in manual with no luck. Maybe I missed it. Why is it so hard to find stuff on this forum? I apparently don't know the easy way!

Help! 2072 that cranks really hard!

Anyone have any suggestions how to fix the herky jerky hydrostatic drive on a 2072? Just seems extremely touchy and not smooth like my other Cubs. Perhaps a link somewhere on this forum that has addressed this already? I can’t seem to find it.

Need to re-power my 982 (dropped a cylinder on the Onan)

Can any of you tell me if a Front PTO can be re-built for a 2072 with a Mag 20 and a 1 1/4 crankshaft? The armature seems to be shorting out. Any help is appreciated. Used, new, rebuilt? Thanks guys.

    2072 Sloppy Power Steering

Can anyone direct me to a thread that explains how to fix a very sloppy power steering issue on. 2072? Have about a 1/4 turn of slip in it for some reason.

Help! 2072 that cranks really hard!

Thanks guys. Turns out the PTO was not properly installed and binding on the crankshaft. Removed PTO and started like a champ. Thankful nothing technically wrong with the engine. Now the PS pump is pushing oil up and out of the steering column. The seals must have dried up. Sitting for...

    Engine Identification

I could use a push rod for this particular motor. Anyone know where I might find one? Not sure what exactly caused it to be bent, probably not adjusted properly.

Help! 2072 that cranks really hard!

Rebuilt a 2072 with a Mag 20 and now it cranks over really really hard. Turning the driveshaft by hand is impossible. Only way is to use a pipe wrench on driveshaft. WTH? Replaced battery and solenoid, and it still acts like the solenoid is bad, clicking. Have had it running before, but...

    Tiller questions.

Anyone have advice on how to UN-seise a tiller that’s been setting outside too long? Worked great up until it set for so long. Was previously used with a 1450. Not sure of the model.

Loss of power when PTO is engaged. 18HP Twin

Anybody have any ideas of what might be causing the engine to lose power when the PTO is engaged? Last time mowing on a very hot day, the mower seemed to get hot and started chugging and spitting, so I just quit mowing. Has done that before but was fine after cooling down. This time after...

    2072 PTO Clutch Problem

Ok, I tried a different VR and it didn't make a lick of difference. Put the old one back on and it now is delivering a proper voltage of 14.4 at full throttle down to pto wire. So I think that is fixed?!?!? Not sure what might have changed, perhaps the VR wasn't properly seated or plugged in...

    2072 PTO Clutch Problem

I don't have another meter but I did check a different battery and it checked out at 12.5v so pretty sure the meter is alright. I also ran another ground from the battery to the case of the tin on the engine to make sure it has a good ground so the VR should have a very good ground.

    2072 PTO Clutch Problem

Ok, checking the two outside terminals at idle it's about 15.6vac and at full throttle it spikes to about 40.0vac. Is this a bad voltage regulator or could my wiring simply be routed wrong? This was a total restoration.

    2072 PTO Clutch Problem

Guys, Does anyone know what voltage you should be getting down to the clutch on a Mag 20 on a 2072? Engine not running I get 12.81 Engine running at full throttle it's 15.45! What's causing it to spike so high? Will this burn out the clutch?
