Finally got to use the blade!

What would be nice is to have a wing to push the top of the bank back. After a few good storms, the driveway starts to get a bit narrow. I believe I've seen some pics of a few wing set-ups. Yesterday, I used the 12-32 Craftsman blower to cut the banks back, widened the driveway 4 to 5 feet...

Finally got to use the blade!

First winter with this tractor here and also have a thrower for it. Have the blade on it and use my walk behind blower when I get too much snow for the blade.

Finally got to use the blade!

Made a new cutting edge out of 3/16" X 2" flat bar and installed it on the blade. The old one was only 1/8".

Finally got to use the blade!

I never had the thrower on yet, but the rod that was with the thrower was the shorter one. It lifted the blade a nice height, but wouldn't let the blade drop below level grade. I made my new lifting rod a 1/2" longer than this one. I just used what I could scrounge up, a piece of 1/4" X 1" flat...

Finally got to use the blade!

Be careful with this. You could end up with not enough down travel to follow the contours such as slight convex surfaces encountered while plowing. I have a blade and thrower and each has a different length lifting rod. The first rod I tried, the longer one, would only lift the blade about 2"...

Finally got to use the blade!

I have the same set-up currently. Make sure your blade is set in the plowing position (blade trip), not the dozing position (blade rigid). We are expecting 12" of snow coming overnight.

    129/149 changes throughout production run?

Re: the three holes on the frame, I see on the right side, they are used to mount the bracket for the hydraulic cylinder anchor point. I have also seen these holes used to mount FEL frames. My observations.

    Box blade

It looks like it may have some kind of adjustment lever in the middle of it. Would be nice to see a few more pics of this area.

    Box blade

Interesting, a Brinly hitch type of box blade. It looks like it has pockets on the front for weights? How well did it work?
