Picked up a new to me 149 yesterday, it is pretty beat up but I'm hoping to git'r running come spring. At sometime the hydro lift was removed but I hope to find a replacement. Worst case I guess I can part it out and at least break even. But, I've got plenty to work on now with the 147 I...

Anyone know the weight of a Cub Cadet 149?

Dave, I guess we will have to see, need to get the flywheel off first. BTW what size is the flywheel nut? There was not one there when I got the engine and I don't want to do any crank damage getting the flywheel off.

Thanks Donald! I do seem to recall, granted it was 20 years ago, when I worked in the Engine Division at Kohler they did that. I spent a summer honing cylinder bores, and any that got oversized, they set aside and when they had a bunch we honed them to "+3". Unfortunatly, nobody that I know...

I have a K241 that I was going to rebuild, but after pulling the head and cleaning up the piston I found that it is stamped 020, I'm assuming this means it has been bored to +0.020. Can this engine go one more .010 or is it done?

I pulled a starter/generator off my dad's old 102 and installed it on the 102 with the snow thrower, is there a quick way to tell if it is charging? While I was at it I installed the spring assit I picked up for $45 bucks last week. Then I headed up to Trivers (Two Rivers on the map) and...

THoffman, what do you expect from weather guessers? They need to hype the weather to justify all the money spent on radar. To tell the truth, today I'm happy they are down-scaling the volume of snow. I need to drive up to Two Rivers this afternoon to pick up a backup QA-42A thrower.

I believe I found the problem with my 122 starting, and I was wrong, it doesn't appear to be an issue with the ACR in the engine. I got it started last night and did some snow throwin', had the floodlights from the house and garage lighting the driveway then I pulled onto the sidewalk and...

So I'm back to having issues with starting the 122. I turn the key and the engine turns until, I believe, the compression in the cylinder builds up enough and it stops. If I pull the spark plug it turns over and over like there is no tomorrow. So I was at Sears yesterday and picked up a...

Now that I have a snow thrower on my 122, I have on more question. I don't have a heated garage and some nights it gets pretty darn cold in there and unlike the car the tractor doesn't get used daily. Do I need to do anything special with the battery in my 122?

Well I finally got the QA-42A mounted to my 122. I made up a bracket similar to one suggested here (sorry, I don't recall who). The pieces, before I removed the "inner" 1/8" piece of bar stock. The inner bar was giving me fits trying to get the bracket installed without pulling...

Jumping from the battery to the S/G doesn't help. I'm thinking Matt might be on the right track with the ACR issues. I guess I might have to move up the schedule on the rebuild for that engine. Thanks for all the responses!

I did a little more digging on my 122 that doesn't want to turn over. When I turn the key, the solenoid clicks , the engines starts to turn over and the engine "exhales" (for about a half second), then nothing. Willing to try anything I pulled the spark plug and turned the key....holy cow the...

I think I found my problem but I would like to confirm. When I turn the key on my 102 I'm only getting 6 volts out of the solenoid (wire to starter). I have 12 volts in, but the 6 out to the starter has problems spinning the motor with the load of the engine. My solenoid is bad, correct?

Seeing as Harry opened this up again... last Saturday I took a short drive up to St. Nazianz and made a stop at Madson's to try and figure out my QA-42A mounting to a 102 issue once and for all. After 45 minutes of discussion we came to the conclusion that we can't figure out how it is designed...
