Driving the coil roll pin into hydro for the coupler.... Just thought of this too, I hope I have not hurt anything by driving that coiled roll pin into the hydro drive as I did not support it from below because there is not much working room. When you guys do this, do you support the...

Scott, Just read your post. Well I was outside all night in the wonderful 100+ degree heat...well my shop was not too bad. Anyhow I now have the 1450 setup almost done. I did go with the one rag joint in front & in back so I hope it holds up nice. I am taking the driveshaft I cut to length...

Thank goodness!! I read it wrong...helps to read twice sometimes! Just looked at a 1450 drive setup, I think this would work nice on my 149. I have seen others using a double rag joint in the front, is this a good idea? Or will one rag joint in front & back work fine? I was thinking of...

Dennis, So you are saying you use that Gunk degreaser and then spray it all out with water? Interesting. Would you use any brake/carb cleaner to help clean it out also? I never cleaned mine up like that....I just dumped out old oil and put in fresh. I notice mine is starting to leak...

Paul Henry..... I had this same exact problem on my 149 Cub last year. I bought the cork gasket (think it was cork?? Maybe a newer better material..I forget) anyhow if your 1650 is anything like my 149, and I think it kind of is, here is what I did...this was my first time too!! One thing...

149 driveshaft pin snap problem solve...I think...I hope! So I tore into the 149 tonight further, inspecting everything and looking at everything. My dad stopped over tonight to also have a look. While we were talking he said on his 149 he has to thread the bolts into his rear rag joint at...

For the ball thing, I agree….I do not believe there was one, I just wanted to be sure. I also agree how could the absence of that cause the issue. As I said that coil pin looked original, the arm looked original and never removed… Harry, yes the pin was aligned properly with the gasket on the...

Thanks for the response Guys! Harry, I had the pump off from the rear end. I pulled the whole works out, cleaned it all up, then took the pump off the rear end, with the pump pointing up in the air...being sure to be very clean about everything. I replaced that cork gasket between the pump &...

149 Hydro Drive Problems.... So a few days ago I stated I keep snapping drive pins at the engine with my 149. Just broke another one, so I took it all apart, unbolted the engine, removed shaft, coupler, rear rag joint and I took off the hydro drive shaft coupler arm.... Is the hydro drive...

Harry, that is a good point. My dad also has this same 149 Cub Cadet, he uses his a ton also, plows, snowblowers, drags, diggers....you name it, chances are his Cadet has done it. Now with his, I never remember him replacing the pin, he said a couple times he has had to since he has had it. He...

Steve, would you happen to have any part numbers on those parts? Would that be a direct conversion with no modifications needed? That sounds like something that would work well. Jeff, that is exactly the part that is warn...warn pretty bad too. It was brand new last year, this would be the...

The driveshaft in the coupler that is at the back of the engine is snug. The coupler started to wear a bit from the pin....then the pin snapped..and snapped again. At the hydro drive, there is a slight bit of play as the hydro has the original pin, not much play though. Rag joint & drive shaft...

Thanks Dave, yes it should have the steel pin, but I keep snapping those like crazy....the double roll pin has lasted longer than the original hardened pins. I would like to just get rid of the pins all together and put on some type of driveshaft that I know will not snap a pin or leave me...
