Does my 42" mower deck need a tensioner pulley?

Google 'cub cadet blue ribbon service manual GSS 1369 pdf.' It be free. See page 3-2, in the back and see instructions for how I installed a tensioner. Simple. Cheers, Jack

    Paint problems

I agree. I bought a quart from one of the sponsors (maybe the most popular yellow) and it did not match - too light. Remember I said Cub used different yellows. My local paint shop made it perfectly match the color in my Majic rattle can.

    Paint problems

Back in the day I see 2-3 different Cub yellows. For my CC102 I use Majic Cub Cadet yellow, 8-22950-8 and Majic Diamond Hard off-white, 8-21519. Perfect. Spray leaves the can as a light flow, different from other spray cans. I like it. At my HD, see Rustoleum Custom Spray 5in1 which nozzle...

    Paint problems

To add to thoshock's post, 50F degrees is the minimum outdoor temp for any exterior paint job. And remember, any paint needs two weeks to properly cure at them 50 degrees. I have a homemade 6ft white oak bench that'll need 5-6 coats of Total Lust varnish along with a teensy blemish on my CC102...

1330 only runs on gas poured down carb

For my CC 102 I drain the gas in November and now ready to gas-up for Spring. It has a 1.5 gallon tank, perfect. Always use Stabil and store gas in 1 gal cans and always use Valero 93 (Park Ridge NJ) octane which the owner tells me is ethanol free. Cheers, Jack

To Rebuild or Just Leave As Is

My CC102 (circa 1967) has the same K241 engine. Got it two years ago from the original owner. Like you I first looked at the exhaust pipe thinking it can't be any good. And like you, that pipe ain't coming off, even with heat. When replacing the muffler I saw the thickness of the exhaust...

149 making rattle sound especially on shut down.

Two things: The air filter housing appears not all the way on, the screw nut on my K241 filter (Cub 102) shows a lot more screw tread than yours. Remove housing , see the filter and while off, re-position the coil so the coil bracket is attached in two places rather than just one. I not seeing...

    1st snow challenge 2024

"Axles on our Cubs are so robust..." Could not agree more; have seen on this forum a comparo between Cub and Wheelhorse (of equal HP) where the Cub easily outplowed the wheelhorse. That's an attribute of a stout transaxle. Best, Jack

    1st snow challenge 2024

Gee, Gordon, no offense, but I'm thinking old wives tale. I'm reading that Wade and most of this list would agree that back porch/chassis weight does not contribute to bearing failure. Case in point: Since 1991 my Elec-Trak (160 lbs at the back porch), 240 lbs in four batteries, 80 lbs...

    spring time reminder

Another thing about mice - are disgusting - pee and poop where they live. I know of no other animals that do that. Cheers, Jack
