Hi folks- I recently bought a Cub 2521, knowing it didn't run. The previous owner replaced the head gasket on the left side of the engine and couldn't get it to start after words. I'm fairly certain he didn't torque something down properly, or the intake manifold is leaking. It's showing definitive signs of way too much air getting into the engine when it's cranking.

Here's my question- I'm a big fan of these shaft-drive Cubs, but is there is an "easy" way to slide the engine forward to get the shroud off? I know I would need to remove the front cowl, exhaust, and the four bolts holding the engine to the frame.. but it's the shaft I'm curious about.

The 2521 came with a 21hp Briggs Vanguard and a cast iron rear end. I know it's worth fixing! Thanks for your help.

Checking the service manual would be my first choice. đź‘Ť
