Engine rebuild came to a screeching halt last night. :bash::mad: On the bright side, I got the front PTO rebuilt and installed. (sorry no pics) So until I get the right parts I'm at a stop.

OK, so after my screw up and I ordered the wrong connecting rod, I finally got the correct connecting rod. Jackson and I got it back together and in the tractor. We had a graduation party to go to so hopefully we can get it finished later this week. Depends on what my "honey do" list looks like. LOL

On the subject of rods..........a local machine shop owner (years ago) was ate up with Kohler motors. He had found a bearing insert that he could make fit a Kohler motor. His shop is long gone now. Anybody else hear of such a setup. ?

Sorry, I've been off the grid for a couple weeks.
Update on the 100 rebuild. We finally got it running. :groupwave: On the first trial we couldn't get it started. It was like the battery was weak. Come to find out it was the starter/generator that was weak. Once we got that swapped out the engine fired right up and ran like a champ. I plan on mowing tonight with it.

Nice, Nice, Nice! Is that Carlisle Tru Power 10-.50's? Why do you need all that rear weight just to mow? :errrr:

Marty,
Actually, they are Tru-Power 8.50's. Not only that, but fluid filled. The extra weight is nice for when you have to back up a hill and it's a little damp the tractor doesn't have any problems. Plus well it doesn't hurt to look cool. :errrr:
I mowed with it last night and it ran great. (knock on wood) This 100 always ran fine but always had a little engine knock. Sort of like a diesel. Now it runs smooth and quiet.

This one has the 10.5's. :errrr:

Yes I had some converted and worked good. That shop closed and I don't know anyone that does it now.

Yes. I think the inserts are from a Continental engine. I have at least one at home waiting for me to find an acceptable machine shop to perform such a conversion.

Looking good Shultzie!

I got Jackson mowing with the big Cub last night while I trimmed a few trees. I heard him grinding the gears and I looked and the tractor was stopped but the mower was still slowly coming to a stop. I forgot to tell him not only the tractor needs to be at a stop but so does the mower when shifting gears. He must have been in neutral and let go of the clutch for a split second. Anyway that's when I noticed that the gear shift came loose. (weld probably broke) I told him it's not a problem as I've done it before too. As you can see in the video I don't have the original shifter on it. That's one off of a Cub Cadet. When it broke on me the first time many years ago I swapped the straight one out with a bent one from a Cub Cadet. I like the bent one much better. So I took the Cub back to the garage and we proceeded to swap the shifter out with the one on our "71" that is sitting in the corner. I forgot to take pics of the whole process. I told him we will fix it later when we have more time.

It's been about 7-8 years since I got the 72 out. Had a little trouble getting it started. I think we need to soak the carb. for a while. We ran out of time to mess with it last night so we'll do it another day. Anyway, I had Jackson change the tires and rims out so we can get it ready for the classified section. (so keep an eye out) I also grilled out some pork shoulder steaks while he worked on the Cub.

Will that sickle bar be going with it?

So my wife has problems with her zero turn Cub Cadet. She said it was making a terrible noise. Looks like the bolts broke or fell out of the main spindle. Yeah I can see how that my make a terrible noise. :roflol: Once I got the deck off I see that the welds are broken as well. I'll need to take this to work and get it welded up. So it looks like my week will be busy in the evenings. I got to have it fixed by Thursday when we are ready to mow again.
