Hi Everybody, I just found out I was insane. I needed a real tractor. So I found a Cub 123 in hopes of tilling a 2 acre garden. So I bought it with a hydro lift, a blade and the rear mule drive for $400 (got info on that lurking here). The next day, a 149 with a mower deck popped up for $50, so I bought that too, then last night an 62 Cub original (no implements) popped up for $125 so I bought that too... I can't stop. I love them all. All three of them have carb problems (ethanol, and worn out bodies). Im hoping to find a tiller, new front mule drive, and some wheels/weights soon. Maybe a creeper gear for the original. In all this craziness I didn't get any pics yet, but Ill post some tonight. I've had A's and B's, a G and a 9n, I am now an IH/Farmall/cub cadet addict. There I said it :)

I have to admit at this point, thankfully I have done nothing bad or wrong YET, but I have caught myself in a couple of... 'ooooo probably a good thing i didnt do that' moments, like when I almost unknowingly just bolted the flywheel pulley/pto clutch basket onto the crank and not noticed the smallcrack in the sleeve by the key set screw slot.... I almost put the whole thing back together before i noticed that one on the 123, then it was off to ebay. Thats when I realized.... I might start wanting to look for forums so I dont do any further bad things hehehheheh

Take some good advise from someone who made a ton of mistakes,be REALLY careful looking for parts on e-bay
I'm not very smart at it but hopefully you are. I either find parts from the forum or go to the links at the top of the page, then I know my parts are right.

Thanks for that tid bit. I did notice a lot of mis labeled and some poorly described items that, quite honestly, have created more questions and problems than anything else, even like what I thought I understood as narrow frame/wide frame... I did notice the links at the top of the forum pages, that's is where I intend to go from now on. Its nice to have someone that can confirm some of these things first without having to learn it all the hard way. I am struggling a bit with part numbers and I cant seem to find anything like the old Buick-Olds-Cadillac parts interchangeability books from back in the late 30's-the 60's. Even in aviation they have interchangeability lists between parts, but for the life of me I cant find anything like it? Someone told me last night that Farmall M front wheel weights were the same as the cub 107 rear wheel weights. I had not one clue, couldn't even find anything on it, but sure enough...

Welcome Harry, grew up putting many hours on my dad's 129 then he bought a cyclops for the 3 acres we mow. Now i have 7 cubs and 2 others, I dont need anymore but some of use have the Fever and it's not a bad thing. keep hunting them .

Welcome, Harry. Nice story. Did anyone pop up lately?:)

Ya know, funny you ask.... The very next day, a four digit 60-61 07 came up in listings. It had that small two blade 38" timed mowing deck with that foot actuated pto thingamabobble. My son just joined up on here too (Justin Fairfax). The 60-61 is his now, and he is helping me (old eyes, old body) with the 149 and the 125 so I can get them out there and working as they should be. We spent all night out in the barn prepping the engine to get pulled in the morning. Had a blast!

Is this 2 acre garden ALREADY a garden?
Or just a grass lot??
Tell us about it

FYI (just for the heck of it)
2 acres, 295.16' X 295.16' or 87,120 square ft, is about the size of a city block!
You are gonna have your hands full tilling that much area w/a NF Cub.
Talk about seat time!!

1 acre tilled... I'm not a masochist :) LOL I havent tilled it yet, I have about 2 more weeks here to get it done but I'm running up real close... the other acre is going apple trees. I used to have a 5 acre, but that was all JD A/B / 9n... Corn, Potatoes, squash and peppers and beets. I have to admit though... I was thinking about putting up a greenhouse/hybrid operation in that one acre... but that's still a couple years out.
