My 1450 died on me today. No signs. Not even a sputter. I have yet to start monkeying with it. I was hoping for some inside info. The video is the attempt to restart. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Sounds like it has some compression ruling out a broken rod. Probably some junk in the carb or fuel system, or defective points. Could also be fouled spark plug.

John, the guys said it. start with spark by grounding spark plug..If you have spark, put plug back in ,a short shot of carb cleaner in carb throat...if it fires it means it's in your fuel delivery system....?????? If it doesn't spark it's most likely in your points/cond/coil system...You have to prove one at a time to diagnose

I’m going with this theory on a piece of crud. It restarted this am and I drove it back across the street. Cleaned plug which wasn’t bad at all. Ran great the rest of the day! 🤷🏻‍♂️ It’s getting a rebuild as soon as I can get the money for one.

If it runs great, why do you want to rebuild the engine? Your issues here are related to some ancilliary component of the engine or the tractor's wiring, and not something internal to the engine.

He implied he was waiting until he had the money for one. I get that for a $300-$1k engine rebuild. Not a $13 carb kit. One who cannot afford a $13 carb kit should probably find a different hobby.
You are correct. After 40 years, is a full rebuild really out of line? That said, I’m doing the standard LOF this week including hydro 👍🏼
