I guess the CCC thread has been incorporated into the IH Cub Cadet section as I don't see the CCC thread anywhere??

Getting it ready for you know what!!
Had bought a block heater for it when I got the Cub several years back and just got around to installing it. Took a little mod for clearance, see pic's.
Installed new bearings in the fan drive shaft as well as new belt, air and fuel filters while we were at it.
Installing the 42" power angle blade again for this winter and removed the ag tires and installed the weighted & 2 link chained tires plus the weights which totaled about 150 lbs per wheel.

That bearing bracket looks to be homemade or did they change at some point? First pic is one off of my 882, 2nd is from my 1572.

Yeah, the CCC section disappeared a few months ago. I don't know what that was all about..

That is what I'm looking for. Do you have more pictures of that set up and the routing of the hose to the upper and lower rad? Did they run from water pump over engine like in Kraig's picture ? How does the lower rad hose get from other end of engine to lower rad ?
I think I could make a bracket like that for fan?

You added a block heater - did you find it improved your starting in cooler weather? I know it helps on the larger farm tractors - I guess I never understood why these engines can give guys a hard time starting? I made sure to p/u a good battery for mine, think it was 850 or 900 cca.

One thing I learned when working on my 1512 CC was the basic engine is Kubota industrial. For those parts one needs to go to an industrial engine place that has the Kubota franchise. Tractor dealers do not have access for parts for them. All the external features like the alternator mounting, fan bracket, idlers, etc. is all MTD ad on items and most NLA, not even the idler pulleys. That fan belt is an "A" belt. (3/8" wide)

As for starting, change the glow plugs over to full 12 volt glow plugs. OEM are 8 V and the glow light resistor sucks up 4 V. By pass the glow plug light and wire the 12 V glow plugs through a separate starter relay direct to the battery. Update the starter to the gear drive starter. In cold weather use a battery booster as there is not room in the OEM set up for a large enough battery to run the glow plugs for a full min. and have enough left to turn the engine fast enough to start it.
This from my experience. Most of my information came from the Kubota web site.

What was the normal size of the batteries in the 782D and 882D, how many CCA?

I believe the original battery when the cub was new was 400 CCA. Unfortunate this battery was an odd size. Never was able to locate one. Have been using U1 with max CCA available around here is 300 CCA. Saw someone install a Odyssey AGM battery on its side.

Has any one seen what the OEM battery or have a photo?

Oh wow, that is low CCA. No wonder it has a job cranking it over when cold. Heck I think the ones I've been putting in my tractors up until now are like 600 or so CCA, I get them at TSC (Peavey Mart now). So I'm gonna say this one I have will do the trick, 850CA - 690 CCA, its a Harvest Grade which is Peavey Mart's name brand for batteries. Hopefully they are good quality, I know the old TSC brand were good for what I used them for.

Oh I already have the new battery here, I'm good that way. Let me see some more pictures of that engine set up without the side panels on that's what I'm looking for as well. Is that an electric fuel pump I see there too? Upgrade or what's with that?

Hi Joe, You are the person I was referring to in my post.

Do you have part# on your Odyssey battery And it’s CCA rating?

With my 782‘s Kubota 600cc diesel with the gear reduction starter and fresh 300 CCA battery was able to start when temp was in the teens. Now the battery is 3-4 years old need to boost now at these low temps. Only getting about 30 seconds of cranking at these temps.

By the way model Kubota did you install in your loader build?
